Well I've talked to a few people about it, and I completely understand. I defend everything I love to my death too. I'll definitely defend Bioshock Infinite.
The gameplay in the first BioShock...is definitely the weakest part. There are some cool powers and weapons, and limited RPG elements but the game is extremely easy and largely pretty monotonous.
The gameplay is a lot more fun in its unscripted moments when you're poking your way around Rapture and breathing in the sights. I think if you aren't interested in trekking for ten minutes in the wrong direction just for the sake of a poster which highlights more of how Rapture once was, it isn't gonna be the game for you.
I actually wrote a review on BioShock back in the summer of '12: h ttp://pizzamorg.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/bioshock-revisited.html
Ah okay that makes sense. Yeah I figured as much, I mean I enjoyed the demo of the first Bioshock. That's pretty cool, the environments in the Bioshock games are extremely impressive. Yeah was very helpful, and very nice to look at.
So how is the gameplay of the first Bioshock compared to Infinite?
Jack is a great one, but you have to kinda finish the ride to understand why. Really the true character of the first BioShock is Rapture itself, which is my all time favourite videogame location full of environmental storytelling which will terrify and fill you with awe. You will mess Elizabeth's helping hands and pretty face though.
If you couldn't already tell, it's my favourite game and: h ttp://www.tokunation.com/showthread.php?t=55533
