It goes something like "In ancient times, the Shin Oh descended upon the (insert name here). The people saw a divine countenance." Who are the Shin Oh? What divine countenance was this? It took me 2 episodes to figure out the divine countenance referred to a person, and 3 episodes to understand that the Shin Oh was a person, and apparently the ruler of the people. Before this I has assumed that the Shin Oh was the name of the people, because the subtitles didn't make anything clear! And worse yet, they didn't translate the Japanese characters on the screen that sometimes told you who and what was on-screen. I worry that the translator may not actually know what's going on...

Actually, this time it's worse. They can't seem to even construct a cohesive narrative. So it's not just the finer bits that are missing, it's that it's a bit of a struggle to really understand the background story.

But it's okay, I've dealt with this before. K-On's subtitles were sub-par too. I'm sure it won't be too terrible. I do feel, though, that fansubbers would have done a better job.
