That's nice. I think when my mother thought it was bad, I migrated to Digimon because at least there wasn't "an official bad word" about it.
But later the Vatican officially said there was nothing wrong with Pokemon, so I migrated back.

Regarding what we were saying in the thread, I do believe it is largely a popular movement. Pokemon's main issue was evolution, which is weird for Catholics to be offended about because Catholics don't actually have a problem with evolution. Hence why I think it's a bandwagon thing, it started out as a protest against evolution, and a large part of the public, regardless of religion, ate it up without really considering it twice, or really considering what their actual beliefs tell them.

You don't see much formal opposition to it anymore, anyway. If the same rules from the 90's applied earlier, we would probably have seen Star Wars get condemned too.

It's unfortunate that you were in the midst of an anti-Pokemon movement. I had shades of that too, and stopped playing for a while. Ironically I went over to Digimon.
