Well, not sure how successful that experiment was. Fans feel all except Deep Space Nine sucked. I certainly didn't think much of the Picard movies (except First Contact) but I will agree that the setup they had really helped the world-building in Trek. The problem is that everyone forgot Kirk and then The Next Generation came to define Trek. This resulted in JJ Abrams' Trek feeling so out of place for fans, despite being quite similar in tone to Kirk's time.

Ah, you're a discerning fan. Sigh...it seemed like they could really have shaken the franchise with Omega. But what am I saying, I know nothing of the franchise.

Sisko is Captain during Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Deep Space Nine and Voyager were concurrent series that filled the TV spots after Picard transitioned to the big screen (all three were more or less concurrent).

I think a Next Dimension might not be a bad idea. You didn't have to be a Kirk fan to enjoy Picard's The Next Generation, for example.

Well, some fans often focus only on the more surface aspects of something. Put enough to be recognisable and you win them over.

But I think I'll be fine, after all it is my introduction to the franchise so I'm not emotionally invested, yet. It'll be cool to learn more about the series. They better keep churning out more shows, now! And keep releasing it on Crunchyroll!

Overall I quite like it. It's like a Shonen Heartcatch Precure, if that makes sense. I'm hoping the rest of the episodes will be quite fun, too, but wow, 90+ episodes?
