A terribly misguided PR department...and a slight attitude problem that's somewhat prevalent in Perthians. It's always been laughed that being an isolated city (one of the most isolated in the world) plus having a population that's halfway between metropolitan and suburban creates this. For example, some of the weaker teachers here are more interested in asserting authority than listening to reason. You'll have problems with them.

Quite... The officers are overtly strict, I guess because their superiors tell them to be. And the officers are also largely immigrants, mostly South Asian. Hence, the frequent disgruntled racism.

The train corporation just needs to be less aggressive. They are aggressive in everything. Their ads basically involve public shaming and fear to instill good behaviour, instead of say, humour.

Stuff like, "after we pick up the pieces, it's your family's turn." (Regarding crossing the train tracks.)

It escalated. The guy was saying that he bought the wrong ticket and complained loudly they wouldn't let him off the train to buy another one. He complained the guards were too strict and that he was homeless and unemployed. I agreed with him, until,

"You're not even Australian! Do you even understand my English?"



All this is the fault of overlegislation by corporations.
