You're really choosing all the good ones to start with! Tomb of the Cybermen is without a doubt my favourite Cyberman story, and definitely in my top 5 Who stories in general. The Cybermen were perfect...not too human, but not too robotic either. And that voice is just chilling

The human Cybermen thing was a really big annoyance to me at first (even more so when I realised their original is almost a perfect parallel to the Daleks - wheelchair-bound mad scientist looking to prolong/evolve life, sudden appearance of a catchphrase etc.), but I quite liked the design (apart from the stomping). I'm looking forward to Gaiman's story too since he did wonders with The Doctor's Wife, but the I'm indifferent to the new design. Have you seen it yet?

Oh, and if you get the chance be sure to check out Attack of the Cybermen from the sixth Doctor's run. It's no where near as good, but it's very much a continuation of Tomb.

Yeah, I need to get around to writing more Doctor Who stuff I'll probably do a lot more once I'm up to speed with Power Rangers/Sentai/Kamen Rider, but in the meantime I'll keep doing a top 10 in mind

You're not coming off at nosey at all! But yes, on the whole I do prefer the classic series to the modern. Not that I think the modern series is terrible by any stretch, but having the stories condensed down into standalone 40 minute stories doesn't give plots or characters enough time to grow in comparison to stories split into 4-6 part half hour episodes.

Glad you enjoyed! The Three Doctors is a brilliant story, and the third Doctor is my favourite so you've picked a brilliant era to start on. Its just a shame most of the second Doctor stories are missing, so there are a lot of gaps in his run

I thought their HM Armed Forces line might be in that scale, but on closer inspection it doesn't seem to be so I don't think they have done anything before. Given then they've skimped out detail on the 5" stuff before I'm a bit nervous to see the results. Fingers crossed though.

No I hadn't heard that. From an industry point of view that makes sense but personally I'm pretty bummed out about it. The fact that the classic and new series are going to be completely different scales is going to throw me, because I like to display them together (especially when I have old Cybermen with new ones and such).

Its great for new collectors, but its ensured that my new series purchases are going to be minimal from now on probably

Yeah, it really is Asylum has been the only dud episode for me in season 7 so far, and that would have been fine I think had they switched out the villains for anyone but the Daleks. I'm a bit hesitant for tomorrow's episode since I think the angels are getting a bit overdone now, but I'm looking forward to it nonetheless. Its just a shame that that's it until Christmas then

The 11 Doctors set was one of the few mass release bits of classic merchandise there's been since the first wave of classic figures bombed, so that's probably why you see it a lot. As for that Three Doctors set, I'm RIDICULOUSLY excited for it. It's the first non-Dalek set I've wanted in months, and has my two favourite companions in it. Even better is that it comes out in January just in time for my birthday

I didn't like the overarching plot format. It works when its sprinkled into episodes like RTD and with the cracks in season 5 but there it made a lot of stories difficult to work as stand alone tales (which I think is extremely important for Who). I'm not really a fan of River or Amy any more either, simply because of how indulgent Moffat is with them. They were constantly centre stage and I don't really like it when companions become the main focus of universe-scale problems. I had a similar problem with how RTD wrote Rose at the tail end of season 2 onwards as well.

Yeah, I've heard Who is pretty big over in Australia (I even think some of the missing classic episodes have been found over there thinking about it), but its a shame its not better stocked there. Its getting to be a pain for classic stuff over here though - retailers aren't interested in it unless its new stuff so most of it has been (expensive) exclusives. Hopefully the talking Dalek wave might change that a bit.

Yeah, the Eleventh Hour was in some ways a better starting off point than Rose was. I loved series 5, but wasn't a very big fan of 6 so when into the new series with a lot of scepticism (its impressed me for the most part though which is good). It's nice to hear you say you don't think Tennant lives up to his reputation, because I agree 100%. He's good, but I thought Eccleston was much better. I think people latched onto Tennant much more because he had more passion for the role while Eccleston only saw it as a temporary job.

As far as I know none of the smaller Daleks have a rotating mid-section, so little additions like that are really welcome considering the price (although truthfully, I got the Supreme ridiculously cheap in a closing down sale). I really want one of Product Enterprise's classic RC Daleks one day, but they command much more than I can afford right now.

Yeah, the Paradigm Daleks definitely feel much more like toys than the RTD era ones in terms of quality. If you haven't thought about getting one already, I'd definitely recommend checking out the Ironsides. Out of all the new-era Who Daleks I own, those are definitely my favourites!

Ah excellent, did you start watching the show with the Matt Smith series then? Season one is still definitely my favourite of the new stuff, with 'Dalek' still my favourite episode. RTD wasn't so great at writing conclusions to his big season finales, but he definitely understood the scale a Dalek story commands much better than Moffat does.

Sure do! I don't have any of the new Paradigm versions, but I've got all three of the RTD Dalek releases (bronze, Sec and red Supreme). They're really nice figures with a great level of detail and easy to use controls (the fact they can all run off one remote is nice bonus) but do have a few little flaws. The head can't rotate 360 and that and the eyestalk can't be moved manually either - as the Dalek moves a long the head moves from left to right and the eye up and down, so if you were displaying them getting them aligned in the centre is nearly impossible. I don't know if they changed this for the new Daleks.

Also the mid-section can rotate on the bronze and Sec versions, which is pretty cool.
