I strongly believe in the death of the author and openly seek out alternate interpretations for my own work. I'll never turn down another person's view on a certain line or character. The biggest example being the polarizing opinion on Fury, some think he's awesome and incredibly bad ass where others hate his guts and want him to die an agonizing death and chopped up into little pieces. Both opinions I happily accept despite them being completely different in stance.

What did you think of Rowling's long exposition? Even my sis and I laugh everytime she does that. She also has a habit of writing, "And so Harry told them everything" as a way to summarize long conversations. XD And we haven't gotten to Tolkien who spends pages talking about which family Bilbo was descended from.
