If you don't mind me saying, that was one of the biggest culture shocks I had living in the USA for a few years. The very specific idea, in some parts, of what masculinity is, often compared to a war-time male.

I wouldn't have liked it either. I feel it is inaccurate and can be demeaning. In fact, honestly speaking it would have prevented me from listening further, which is a bad habit of mine.

Oh yeah, if I was there I'd be panicking in moral anxiety. Yeah, some speakers can be quite rigid and harsh, but in their opinion it is perfectly easy to suppress anything evil. I don't think that's entirely possible, to be honest and the standards they set can be extremely difficult.

One thing I'm not that fond of in retreats is splitting into groups of guys and girls, I almost never get along well with the guys.
