Oh I see discussion of K-On has entered the How is Everyone Today thread. I got hooked on that recently, and true to form, am still obsessed over it. Blame ZeoRangerV for that.

Last I recall, you don't need a card, but that was more than 5 years ago, so I'm not sure if my memory is right.

You probably don't need a general account, at least not for the moment. You can most certainly play the free-to-play stuff.

And yes, Portal (especially Portal 2) is one of those gaming franchises I consider the most important in gaming history. A must play, for both of them.

At least with Steam, the download stays in the background and out of the way. The only thing annoying is that you can't set download times which would be really useful for my limited bandwidth.

I highly recommend signing up for a Steam account! It is the way to play PC games lately. The games are dirt cheap when on sale, and many of them are free too, like Team Fortress 2 and DOTA 2. Heck, even if you never buy a game, Steam gives out some games for free occasionally, such as Portal was for me.

The only catch is that some money must be spent to get what's called a General Account to chat and stuff. But heck, maybe I could buy something for you when sales come on.

That's right, though it differs for the platform. If it's Steam, you just activate it on Steam, if it's Origin, you just activate it for Origin. If it's nothing, you just download them.

The only thing "bad" about Humble Bundles is how the really big ones don't come out very often, but hey we can't get 98% discounts all the time, now can we?

Humble Bundle is a periodic sale where they bundle a ton of games together and allows you to set a price for the bundle. You can also adjust the money you give, to determine how much of it goes to the developers, to a charity, or as a tip to the Humble Bundle people. They allow you to set prices as low as $1, I think, but usually they require a higher amount for more high-profile games.

For example, I set a price of $20 for the last Bundle I paid for, and I got:
-Civilization III Complete
-Civilization IV Complete
-Civilization V
-Civilization V DLC, including Gods and Kings, Brave New World and 2 map packs
-Sid Meier’s Ace Patrol
-Sid Meier’s Ace Patrol: Pacific Skies
-Sid Meier’s Railroads!
-Sid Meier's Pirates!

So I think it's quite a steal for $20 and the minimum price for the bundle that included the Civilization V DLC was $15 (since they were the most recent releases). Considering Civilization V Complete alone is $70 right now, I think it was a bargain.

Oh not at all! Case in point, Lego Marvel is $30 on PC (Steam) and $70-80 on consoles (including 3DS)! I got mine for $20 I think, on Steam Sales.

PC is a much cheaper gaming platform because of Steam Sales, Humble Bundle, GoG.com sales and all those sales, and because PC has a massive old games library with games that are usually very cheap.

I alternate during the years, but am currently PC, since all my consoles sans 3DS are last gen now. Plus PC games are way cheaper.
