Yeah, it was. It's hard being a fan, you want to enjoy it and you're sometimes so concerned with improving it too.

Well does it matter in the end? If Sherlock stops due to poor ratings at least we've had all the self-indulgence we could have. And any new future viewer would have started from the beginning and absorbed the self-indulgence.

I've thought about what you said about fan-pandering, and I'm not sure I really have an issue with that except from a ratings perspective. Sometimes it just needs to build on what has come before or it'll be too episodic.

I don't know, I'm rambling. But for a show like Sherlock I'm not too concerned with ratings because I just feel there's no urgent need to keep it going, it can end this season and still be a fantastic show IF they tie up lose ends.

Haha, I guess it might have depending on the audience. There's certainly a lot of pandering to the fans, but I don't mind that sort of thing. My sister, who's the Sherlock fan in the family, called it the best episode ever, so it really depends on the demographic.

Aww, sounds a bit of doom and gloom. Can Moffat improve, really? His 50th was a brilliant story, why can't everything else be like that?
