Hmm, but if I recall correctly, none of the heroes really were "chosen ones". Even the Gen V hero was the destined one because N chose him/her to be, not because he was born for that role. All of them just happened to be ordinary kids who happened to be more skilled in Pokemon training than most people.

It seems you really do have issues with the stories.

While I see what you mean, I do think having the protagonist be something of worth in the narrative is kind of important. The first two gens did it, yes, but I think in this respect Gen I did it better than Gen II. The conflicts with Giovanni and Gary were more personal than anything Gen II had.

I like being the most amazing and everything. It is after all, a game, not real life. I would love to be the catalyst for an epic adventure, not a bystander.

You really seem to have a problem with protagonists that are focused on. Like all those issues with spotlighted Reds.

Ah I remember that. I trained my Volcarona in Gen V using a notebook and keeping track of EVs. That was evil.

Why do you hate Gen 3 so much?

It's not just the timesink, it's how can people be so invested in it? It just makes you lose interest even with all the time in the world.

I suppose it is my fault. You were right, Matrix. I let the IV-obsession get too far. It took months to get a team of 5-IV'd Pokemon and I didn't even complete it (I got 5 of them and am too lazy to breed the 6th). And I refrained from using many Pokemon because Smogon said they sucked or I didn't understand Smogon's proposed movesets.
