I did feel Amy was getting a little tired. I didn't enjoy her appearance in Asylum of the Daleks, for example. Nevertheless I thought the recent episodes in Series 7 brought new life to the Ponds, and while I was eager for Amy to leave a few weeks ago, I think I'll miss her come this weekend. I guess since you prefer standalone episodes, Series 7 must be a breath of fresh air after Series 6.

I've heard about the distribution problems of Classic Doctor Who stuff. It's not easy to find here too, the only Classic stuff I see in ABC Shops are Sonic Screwdrivers, or stuff involving the new Doctors (like the 11 Doctors set). Did you hear about the recently announced Classic 3 Doctors Set? I don't know anything about Classic stuff, but fans seem to be happy.

Definitely hard to imagine Eccleston doing that. I heard Tennant was a big DW geek, which made him endearing to fans. I also heard Series 6 wasn't that well received by fans. I personally liked it a lot, but I preferred the first half to the second. There was a lot of buildup that didn't amount to a lot. What didn't you like about Series 6?

Australia's not a terrible place to get DW merchandise, because Doctor Who's established in Australian pop culture (Australians are obsessed with all things British). The official retailers of DW stuff are ABC (our BBC) Shops, but they usually have only a tiny section dedicated to DW toys, and are lousy in stocking up. For instance, they will almost never bring in anything larger than a 5" scale TARDIS, so I've never seen the large RC Daleks. Big stores like TRU don't stock Doctor Who, so the only other options are independent comic book stores. Australia is also poor in online shopping so I may have to consider importing in the future.

I'll grab an Ironside the moment I see it! Too bad they're nowhere to be seen here.

I did start with Matt Smith. I learned about Doctor Who during the Tennant era, but was never enthused enough to start watching. However, The Eleventh Hour was a terrific way to jump into Doctor Who; before long I was hooked and I followed both Series 5 and 6 to the end. Your recent blog post about Moffat's problems with Daleks inspired me to check out earlier series. I was a big fan of the Daleks even during the Smith era, so I had to check out the series with the hyped Dalek stories.

I'm up to Series 4 now, but I'll say that even now, I don't quite like Tennant's Doctor as much as his reputation would suggest. Matt Smith is still my favorite Doctor, but Eccleston blew away all my expectations. Tennant was fun, but he lacks the compassion of either Smith or Eccleston, and can be selfish or cruel at times. It's just a personal preference, though, since I'm not really a fan of anti-heroes.

I'm so jealous you got those amazing Daleks! Since first learning about them, I've always wanted those larger ones, especially Sec. Having the mid-section rotate is definitely cool, I don't know if any of the smaller 5" ones can do that. I will definitely own a large RC Dalek one day, if I can just find the money and a place to buy it from.

I got a 5" New Paradigm Supreme Dalek on discount today. You see, the craze has already begun! I really like the figure. Though it feels cheaper than the Electronic Bronze one I have, but it has a nice size to it. I also really like the New Paradigm designs, anyway.

By the way, your blog influenced me to check out older Doctor Who episodes. I'm not ambitious enough (yet) to go all the way to the Classic series, so I'm starting with the 9th Doctor and working my way up. Now I'm on Series 4 and it has been a blast. The Dalek stories during the RTD era were terrific!
