They are. But you know, kids' TV shows will often soften that fact a bit to make them more appealing.
Funny that when they were clones, they were so sympathetic. Turn them into stormies and nobody cares anymore.

You may not remember me, but I have watched you for a very long time ...

Oh, it was terrific! The whole thing felt like watching the original trilogy, with the bombastic use of the John Williams score, the swashbuckling action, the banter and everything else.
The thing that really stood out for me about the show is how flawed these "heroes" are. You can tell they're trying to do the right thing, but they're also ruthless and won't hesitate to remove obstacles to their path, through whatever means. They all have moments of weakness, and haven't really found their place as heroes yet. So this show will be exciting, as they wrestle with such ideas.

Kanan Jarrus was the most ruthless of them all, he accounted for the majority of stormtrooper deaths by far in the episode. XD
