Helmets usually are with toku. Even going with EVA foam over a resin would take time and effort. But it's usually significantly cheaper and faster than buying one.

Hopefully you and your friend will be able to figure it out. There's plenty of tutorials out there to help ya'll with this sort of thing.

Phrasing!

Go as whatever you want and like/can afford. Consider what you'll be wearing and if you'll like to be in it for a few hours. As Femme you'll probably be wearing a mask, black spandex bodysuit, foam, a belt, and possibly heels. Butt Butt you're going to have much of the same minus the heels, and will have large horns and be carrying around a large (if albeit foam and cardboard) shovel.

That's good. After you get your costume together, be sure to wear it for a day or two so you get used to moving around in it.

Also maybe do so while carrying a bag or something with a bottled water and a few snacks. You'll wanna know how much weight you're going to carrying around all day, plus the idea you might carry more if you buy something.

Chilly Comic Con. Don't sacrifice too much, I mean I get it- I often ask myself what a pack of candy really means if I save $5 to go towards a figuart which will of course last.

Hmm. Well I guess that comes down to when the con is and how much money you have. Shovel Knight could probably be done with some craft foam, but Femme would be a lot more complicated.

Miho Kirishima might be a lot easier, assuming you an find something close to those awesome crazy ass pants she wears.
