Well, the idea of a genetics upgrade doesn't really sit right with me. In fiction it's usually reserved for villains. Compare how Spidey and Goblin got their powers for example. Spidey's is accidental, Goblin's is intentional, Goblin goes nuts.
I think it would emphasise Steve's superheroism more if he did not choose to intentionally alter his body to be a hero.
But anyway, it's a nitpick and not even a serious one.

Anyway, what will be given away is the Oddish, so if they feel it's too bright, they can evolve into Vileplume, which is more subdued, and has Anna's winter colours.
