I think Tokyo Revelation was probably my first exposure to Megami Tensei.

also: あ~! both these shows were definitely celebrated here too. I feel like Abenobashi was especially made a fuss of as it was a GAINAX show, but not so many people talk of it now.

I don't know if it did in America, but over here there was a big deal made of the new wave of Japanese animation, and every Saturday, one of the big channels would show a different OVA in celebration; Orgun was one that stayed with me when I first saw it as a teenager, Tokyo Revelation was another that made a big impact on me.

I'm surprised too! In like the million years since I first saw it randomly late at night on TV, I can count on one hand the people I've talked to who also have also seen it, so it's a delight to find someone else who, even if not as enthusiastic as I am, gives it the respect it deserves.
