How much of a freaking plot twist would it be if it turned out that Billy was AkaRed in the gokaiger half of megaforce?

I mean after alllll this time he finally got back his ranger powers after the disappointment of not being suitable for the gold ranger powers in zeo. I mean the younger audience would probably have no idea of the importance of this, but it would show that Saban is somewhat dedicated to keeping the storyline tied together somehow.

They could even use it to tie the rangers in with the Aquitar Rangers powers.

Billy Yost was arguably a big victim of Saban's darker side. I'm not sure he'd be willing to return.

It kinda seems after that interview he did that he has moved on. Yeah I think he's done power morphicon but that's different

I honestly don't think, no matter how awesome, that it'd happen. Bad tastes in everyone's mouths. If anything? They'll replace AKARed with Phantom Ranger, or something.

Honestly, I think David Yost returning for an episode is more likily than them using AkaRed or Phantom Ranger.

I'm vouching for Phantom Ranger here. Bringing the AkaRed suit would make little to no sense for PR's target audience plus Phantom Ranger is more known to the older Power Rangers fans. Also and this is just my opinion here but I always liked how the suit looked better than AkaRed's.

How would bringing AkaRed over make no sense? They could just adjust the 35 to a 20 and bam. Done. He doesn't have to be the same character he was in Gao or Gokai. Just look at how Zubaan changed to Sentinel Knight.

akared did not appear in gao though due to in gao it was a dream team with live red and big one his first appearnace was in boukenger vs super sentai as he was the red spit of all 30 sentai senshi

but i think the time would be right to bring akared to us is when its power rangers 30th anniversary due to i think it would fit then then any thing else

Why? Just because he was a product of Super Sentai's 30th?

Akared could easily be shoehorned into Megaforce, but I'd prefer Power Rangers to figure out their own unique way around events rather than just falling back on a relatively pointless character.

But on topic, I'd love to see Billy come back in some shape or form. As one of the longest serving rangers he would deserve it more than most.

For all we know, we aren't getting AkaRed, the Zangyack (other than a made-for-TV-movie), or even Basco from Gokaiger. Again, for all we know, our Megaforce teens will switch suits, transform in to a few Power Rangers of the past, see an old Power Ranger or two, and end the series without so much as a bang or half the MegaZords or team-ups that Gokaiger gave us.

After the revelation that the placeholder "Robo Knight" for GoseiKnight was revealed to ACTUALLY BE THE AMERICAN NAME of GoseiKnight, I'm left with a sour taste in my mouth that all this hype that MegaForce is going to be AWESOME will be nothing more than another loose translation of Goseiger, minus anything remotely "angelic" about it.

Dare I say the brand has suffered more under Saban than under Disney. I'm not hopeful for megaforce at all especially since gokaigrr is being shoehorned on

In my opinion the presentation of story, this case the upcoming anniversary series, and yes that's really what gokaiger is. Kids wont care, they weren't around at the beginning. But the way they are ramming a non anniversary series onto the anniversary series, under terms of the stupid Nick season episode count, there's little room for it to be anything other than what samurai was....a poor story

I hope you understand that kids in Japan weren't around for the beginning either.

He's right... Kind of =p They won't care in the same sense that an older fan might be miffed if his favourite team etc get skipped, but they will just see it as other cool rangers that they'll dig the designs of and want toys of that design etc.

As for storytelling, you can tell a perfectly good story in 2 minutes if you're good enough. Samurai, I haven't watched shinkenger and super hasn't even started to air over here, only struggles to me due to the, at times, poor acting and that they seem to be trying to cram too much cheesy humour into it.

Super has started over here (at least on Nick, I vaguely remember hearing its on channel 5 too). Don't know where its up to though.

The story in Samurai is fine, like you said its the acting and cheese that's bringing it the most part down. There is the issue of it being a carbon copy of Shinkenger, but that only matters to the small portion of the audience who's happened to have seen both shows. Kids won't aren't going to know any different.

Meshing two completely series together sounds strange, but I'm not watching Megaforce expecting an American version of Goseiger/Gokaiger and I suggest anyone who is to go away and just rewatch the Japanese series instead. If they can rewrite the story to make it work, then I see no reason why it shouldn't be done.

This, big time. They should be judged as separate entities and not as one thing butchering/spoiling the other etc.

Goodness, this needs to be repeated so often. The only way you could "butcher" Super Sentai is to add alterations to them like George Lucas does to his Star Wars movies and declare all previous versions non-canon. Even in that extreme end, there's nothing saying that you can't have your own personal preference for the originals. Just ask those non-Special Edition Original Trilogy purists for Star Wars who just turn a blind eye to the alterations. (For that matter, I'm fine with the Star Wars alterations.)

As it stands, Super Sentai and Power Rangers are two different things. One does not supersede the other. Power Rangers Megaforce is not Tensou Sentai Goseiger 2.0 or Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger 2.0. It is simply Power Rangers Megaforce.

That's my point exactly. That lines like that are strongly supported in Japan just enforces that sentai has elements marketed more to adults than power rangers in America.

I think Super Sentai has always been seen as a kids' show in Japan, and any adult fanbase is similar to our Power Rangers fanbase in scope and proportion. It may seem more mature than Power Rangers, but I think this is simply because more relaxed standards for kids' television give writers greater freedom to write smarter kids' shows. In this respect, it is similar to Western shows such as Avatar the Last Airbender, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, many Marvel/DC superhero shows (Batman TAS, Justice League, Spectacular Spider-man, Young Justice) or even My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

So you're right in that they might have a larger focus on adults, not because the fanbase is necessarily bigger, but simply because they are willing to tap into that small market. Saban, however, at least in the case of Samurai, seems to have made the decision to focus almost entirely on kids because profits are not hurt a lot by this focus (adults still buy Samurai merchandise). This may change with Megaforce as we've seen marketing more geared towards collectors than Samurai was. Hopefully this translate to the actual show too.

I am not a furry. I just appreciate the show and the characters for what they are, and enjoy reading crossover fanfictions starring the characters, as well as adapting real people into possible characters for the franchise. I draw the line at human/pony romance.

Very mature (not darker or edgier, just clever) and epic stories, great jokes and humor, very complex and fully likable characters, a plethora of great songs that recall the Disney Renaissance, a fully realized and living world and mythology and well-written dialogue makes My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic the go-to show for many who seek a sweet, fun time.

The show's quality has spawned a dedicated community of fans who are outside the demographic of little girls. It was surprising to see grown men, in particular, become such big fans of a show about colorful ponies, but I think this article would explain it a bit more.
