Power Rangers Music Redux - Ron Wasserman Adds Go Green Ranger, More
 

Before we enter the weekend eagerly awaiting new episodes of Kamen Rider Wizard and Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters, let's rewind a bit back to 1993 with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, or more specifically, the music of the show.

As we've reported on a few times already, Ron Wasserman - the original composer of the rock songs you heard while Jason, Zack, Billy, Trini, Kimberly, and Tommy were fighting putties - has decided to completely re-record those classic songs and is planning to release them as an album tentatively titled Power Rangers Redux.

Since our last update, the following songs have been added:

• Lord Zedd
• Unite
• Cross My Line
• Hope for the World
• Go Green Ranger

Oh boy, some Turbo tracks! Hope for the World is one of my favorites too. Now all this needs is some In Space tracks (The Best of the Best of the Best please). :D

No, I'll take up for Zeo V on this. There needs to be a Zeo Track up in this.

He can't do anything that he himself didn't write and perform. Most of the Zeo tracks were done by Jeremy Sweat or whatever ... and they're not on talking terms.

Weren't they called "Putties"...?

Is there a way to rip these?

Was the theme Sweat or Wasser? Cause that, and Gold Ranger, are the only two I'd like o.o

I think he only did like one song for Zeo, and it was neither. :lol

... Foiled again!

He has to be creditted and it has to be released. The "In Space" theme is indeed his, but there's trouble finding it released ... it WAS released in Germany, but there's some litigation about laws and releases in foreign countries to here.

Ron is doing this by the book legally. If it can't be released, he won't do it.

And "White Ranger Tiger Power" won't happen. He has issues with the lyrics involving "WHITE POWER GO" and such.

Just what the hell Saban was thinking when this song was written, I may never know. It's been years and it's still a tad racist. Having a song about "White Power" even if it's really about a tiger-themed superhero, is in bad taste.

.. That's stupid. So it yells White Power, it has nothing to do with anything racist. And he's remixing them anyway. He could just remix those lyrics out of the song completely if he has such a problem.

Guys, the song doesn't have a line that puts the words "White" and "Power" together. "Ranger" always, ALWAYS, comes after "White." It's not remotely racist.

Honestly, who came up with this Rangerboard grade nonsense?

"White Ranger Tiger Power" ... but his issue was with the lines of "WHITE" and "POWER" in the same sentence. Maybe silly as he put it, but that's just the way he feels. Won't touch it.

If he's going all PC on his own songs, he really should look at the lyrics of "Unite." Without the cotext that it's about superheroes fighting space aliens (which is not in the song itself), it can be misinterpreted as something very different. Let's just say it wouldn't make a good BGM for an episode of X-Men that features the Friends of Humanity.

Ron, if you're reading this, I get why you don't want White and Power in a song. But never once did anything racist ever enter my mind when enjoying your work on this song. Not freaking once!

...you know, listening to Go Green Ranger Go now as an adult, I just realized just how dirty and out of context the lyrics "Goldar's gonna get you tonight" can sound:lol

Does explain his fascination with Jason and Tommy. Suddenly all that slash fiction makes a little more sense.

These songs stopped when Goldar met Rito. Coincidence? I think not. :p

Ah, young twisted space alien love

Rita didn't approve of their love. That's why Rito isn't in the In Space finale. He's off in Space Massachusetts trying to get the space laws passed. :p

So how do you play the music? I click on the site, I click a song, and then what? I click the play button and nothing happens.

Hey Everyone,

I am not going all PC with the "White Ranger" song. It's simply not a track I ever really liked that much and so I'm not doing it.

As for the ones I am doing, it's by choice. I thought the initial batch should be the tracks I've gotten the most emails about over the last 19 years (yes, they still come in every day) and so I'm doing those first. I am only restricted in remaking songs that were commercially released in audio format...CDs etc. If a song was only in the show, I couldn't do a version and release it legally.

If this first batch does really well I'll approach Saban or their publisher and see if I can do other tracks that were only used in the show.
