Goseiger Suits Used for Both Season of Power Rangers Megaforce
 

Surprise surprise! When Saban announced that a combination of Goseiger and Gokaiger footage would be used for the 20th anniversary series Power Rangers Megaforce I don't think anyone expected this. However thanks to Fury Diamonds' Megaforce Cast site, and a tip from Tokuantion user GrimZata, we can confirm that the Goseiger ranger suits will be used for BOTH season of Power Rangers Megaforce. Gokaiger mecha will be used in the second season but it appears Saban has pulled a Dairanger on us and skipped the Gokaiger suits altogther.

"The second season (tentatively named Power Rangers Super Megaforce), will feature Gokaiger content. Goseiger suits will be used in both seasons. Historic Rangers will make an appearance in Season 2. The Legend War will be shown at the end of Season 1."

I didn't see this posted here before, so I figured I would post it after my friend pointed it out to me.

I'm sorry, that's such a dumb move in my opinion, the Gokaiger suit looks way better than the Goseiger suit :(

I love the Gokaiger suits and I really love the Goseiger suits too. I can't say I'm happy or unhappy, just indifferent. I can understand why from a marketing perspective though. It would be tough for them to market 6 new ranger costumes and expect kids to keep identifying those characters as the same ones from the Goseiger suits.

Can't say I'm too surprised and I did half-expect it. I hope they take this opportunity to do something really good and polished.

If they don't want to use the Gokaiger suits, THEN DON'T ADAPT GOKAIGER!!!!

You would also think that given how popular One Piece and the Pirates of the Caribbean series is, they would want to cash in on pirate rangers.

Honestly, I've kind of been wondering about this for awhile. I wouldn't be surprised if we do see the Gokaiger suits, but they may belong to a group of evil Rangers who are going around and stealing the past Rangers' powers.

I keep looking and never found anything that says the Goseiger suits are going to be the primary ones for season two. For all we know they could mean that suits appear in season two because of the transformations.

Yeah but each year Japanese kids get a brand new group of heroes with their own costumes and mecha. In the US they stretch out the same characters and scenarios for 2 seasons now. Kids won't get why the exact same characters have completely different costumes. Especially like Gosei Knight to Gokai Silver and Gosei Black to Gokai Green.

Kids can transition from the Zyuranger suits to Ninja suits, Saban is gotta give kids more credit, if the writing is done right, the suit change can be easily explained. What Saban needs to do is to train the US kids to accept that there will be a new ranger every year, just like they do in Japan, and that way they can sell more toys.

Anyone else surprised Toei/Bandai went along with Saban to skipping Gokaiger suits? I mean that is losing out on a lot of money for firgures,keys,and the morphers. If all thier using is the mechas.

That's rather...disappointing. The Goseigers suits aren't horrible, but I was really hoping they would transition to the Gokaiger suits for season two. Would have been the perfect excuse for them to release all new figures, and you know, make more money. We already know they're going to be using the Pirate Zords...so why not give us Pirate Rangers too?

Oh well, it's ultimately their loss...I guess. Looks like I might be sticking the the few 20th Anniversary products they've got coming out, and I might skip most, if not all, of the Megaforce stuff...

Personally, I see this as a good thing, because right from the beginning I knew that there was no way in hell you could make the transition from the Goseiger suits to the Gokaiger suits, in any way, smooth.

I could picture it like this:
"Rangers, it appears that your powers have been destroyed by the Zangyack"
"What'l we do Gosei?"
"Luckily I had constructed a new set of powers in case something like this ever happened. From now on, you will be known as the Power Rangers SUPER MEGAFORCE!"
*They transform
"Uh, Gosei...Why do we look like Pirates?"
"Beats me."

You really don't think a simple explanation couldn't be given? And Knight and Silver don't have to be the same at all. They're completely allowed to change things. Five seconds of explanation would suffice. I don't think you're giving kids enough credit.

Heck, we actually had been getting new rangers every year for a good while. So they'd be the same actors now. Big deal! New Rangers is still something that should now be expected in the US as well.

Actually they didn't if your talking about the Kakuranger costumes (who eventually became the Alien rangers. And if your talking about the ninja costumes they wore before they changed again into the Zyu suits, first off they still used the same costumes with just an extra transformation included, & second I personally feel that modern day Ninjas as a concept can be taken WAY more seriously than modern day Pirates. But hey, that's just me.

It's not my personal opinion. I'm just giving you the exact logic Saban is using for this. That's exactly what's going through their heads here. Isn't that the same reason they skipped Dairanger suits originally, and had to use the Kakurangers as an entirely separate team of characters? In the context of them having done this before I can totally understand why they're doing it now.

Fair enough. But I'd also thing that given the number of seasons since then they'd realize the original thinking was proven wrong and that kids can handle it.

Rember Saban the same company that months ago had a rep at an Expo say pirates are to scary for children only to go into damage control a few days later. This news makes me think that maybe they were two-faced on that.

Okay, yes we have had costume changes in the past. Eg. MMPR-Zeo, Turbo-In Space, & that hasn't destroyed the franchise. Aside from Turbo, the changes were never too drastic. And as I've pointed out "Mystical/Technological warriors" to "Space Pirates" is just such a jarring change that doesn't make any real sense thematically other than "We're just changing costumes because that's the Sentai after Goseiger". Also, I think you'l remember that Power Rangers have never handled "Space Pirates" too well *cough*Divatox*cough*.

I'm totally not okay with this. I was hoping to be able to get Ranger Keys for a decent price. I guess not. I hope they'll still be able to transform into past forms somehow......even though so much new footage would be needed for that. Because that way at the very least we would get Ranger Power Cards.

Actually, they should make the American Tensouder with tons and tons of different sounds. Charge $100, I don't care, just make a different sound for every card and also give us Ranger Power Cards. They're never going to do this though. Because apparently they've become allergic to money.

Actually, we've pretty much confirmed the the US Tensouder is bigger due to the Megaforce cards not being able to fit in the Jap one. So that's something to take into account.

But I wanted a Mobirates...

Oh well- at least it smooths out the transition from RoboKnight to Megaforce Silver.

Looks like my theory of ranger cards rather than keys might happen after all...

This pisses me royally off

when Megaforce was announced, everyone was like "20th anniversary? GOKAIGER!" and when it was gonna be goseiger a lot of people were dissapointed, but it was understandable, because they stated that "they can't afford to skip suits because of all the footage that would be lost". now they are skipping the gokaiger suits, the suits the fans really wanted. THIS MAKES NO SENSE!

I'm not hating on the goseiger suits, they got some neat design ideas, sure they aren't my favorite, but they are fine, but to me, Gokaiger is one of my all time favorite suit designs, so to not bring them over, designs that non super sentai or not even power rangers fans that just remember MMPR have seen and are like "WOW WHAT IS THAT!?!?!" in my personal experience, is absolutely the dumbest move i've ever seen.

You would think they wouldn't want to skip a suit because it means a ton of gokaiger footage is gonna be useless.

I like this idea. I also understand why they're doing this, to be honest. The rage about the decision though, seriously? We've heard rumors about this happening for a long time now so you can't be all that surprised.

I liked Gokaiger. Enough that I wish it was getting it's own season as much as I wish Goseiger was getting it's own season. But the suits compared to Goseiger are a little bland. They are.

The suits shouldn't be skipped at all, but in all honesty, this isn't me hating on goseiger, but being the 20th anniversary, if they skipped anything it should of been goseiger, but to have the 20th anniversary and pretty much restrict a ton of footage from the series that revolves around a big anniveray, it makes no logical sense.

Why did saban say they can't afford to skip a season yet here they are, pretty much skipping a season.

personally for me though, Gokaiger had the better suit design, they just had that level of badassness to them, they looked like a badass team, They are still my all time favorite sentai suit design (especially gokai silver) and to see them skipped is a crying SHAME

do i have a funny feeling there going to do MMPR season 2 on use skip the 5 main gokiager suits, and bring in gokaisilver suit, just like they did with kiba ranger and made him in the white ranger for power rangers season 2.

also i had a funny feeling before hand and i did keep that as my strong point that i knew it might just be thee zord being used and them might just hash in gosei great cockpit as gokai-oh cockbit

Interesting choice. I'm okay with it, and I understand the decision they went with. But the only bad thing in my mind is that we won't have a 4-inch figure line for the Gokaiger suits(big fan of that line)

Whelp, there goes all my interest. I was hoping that they'd use the Gokaiger suits for Super Megaforce so I could, you know, buy the Gokaigers at the 4 inch Power Ranger scale.
