Who else has the Wii U?
 

Just got this bad boy for my 31st Birthday! Right now I'm waiting for the Pad to charge, then there's the set-up and THEN New SMB U BABY!

Who else has or wants one?

I want one.
I can't afford one, though.

I've got one. I love it. I beat NSMBU with my brother in law last weekend and I'm currently playing Darksiders 2 and ZombiU (under-rated game, IMO).

I want it but ill just wait for next year to get it, cant afford it atm.

@HenshinTension: How long does it take to get it fully updated so you can play games? Mine's still updating and I'll be pissed if it has to update every time I turn it on!

I want a wiiU but I need to wait and save for it.

I don't understand the U. The Wii was praised for being affordable, while the U is 400 dollars. Tha ain't affordable. I don't hate the system. When I was at Gamestop being Fallout 3 (5 bucks, no seriously) we talked about a Fallout game for the U, and using the controller as your Pipboy. Loved that damn idea. And there's other good ideas for it to. But the price I can't get over. Nintendo is going after PS3 and XBox.. and Nintendo is going to curbstomped like his name was Skull. And PS3 was using a Final Ride card.

I'll just go buy a Wii on the cheap.

It took me about an hour to update. Each game has some minor update it seems but it all boils down to your internet speed. I have the highest available speed from Time Warner so your experience may vary.

The Basic Edition is $300 which is only $50 more than what the original Wii retailed for when it was released in 2006. While I agree that it might be overpriced when you compare the economy today with the economy of 2006, you still are getting a lot of bang for your buck. Granted, for people wanting to buy a Nintendo system right now the Wii is much more afordable. The price will come down, I will guarantee you that. The question people should be asking is not if the Wii U is worth the money (it is) but rather do they want to shell out the full original MSRP to be one of the first to own one or if they would rather wait until the inevitable price drop. For those who have the means I would recommend picking one up (I reviewed it on my blog which is linked below) but for others I would suggest waiting until more high profile games are released. Just my two cents! Sorry for the double post!

One of the things I find disappointing about the Wii U is the use of a resistive touchscreen (like on the DS), compared to a capacitive touchscreen (like on the iPad). I understand that resistive touchscreens are more durable and less costly, but they just don't feel very good at such a large size and are severely prone to scratches.

I also heard there were software problems, but those can be easily fixed given time. The touchscreen, however, is a positively antiquated design choice. Nevertheless, I'm sure Nintendo will churn out triple-A first party titles and all will be good.

I don't mind it all that much. I put a screen protector on mine after a few days. Which is something I would've done anyways, no matter what kind of touch screen it was. I like keeping my stuff in as perfect condition as I can. My 3DS still looks brand new, and I bought it at launch.

The title I'm waiting for is Smash Bros.

And the Wii U is totally worth it. You get what you pay for. You can't really ask for something that's set to be better than the 360 and PS3 to be cheap.....

OK, I have this beast for two days now and while the contrast UPDATES are annoying, it's tons of fun. I just wish that not everything needed the Wii U Pad.

I really don't want to use it unless I really have to, since I suck at keeping things dust free.

I've had one for a bit, and I'm really enjoying it.

Galvantula - So far, the only thing that "needs" to have the gamepad in hand for is checking friends stuff on the MiiVerse. Gaming-wise the only game I've played so far that you need the gamepad for is the 10 minutes of Nintendoland I tried before shelving it forever.

The software is starting to scare me, with all the horror stories I've heard about it. I read somewhere that the launch Wii Us are prone to these said issues. I have the Deluxe Black version, but I don't know when my family got it for me. Should I be worried?

Honestly, I wouldn't be worried.
I'm chalking up the problems in the same vein as PS3 overheats and 360 Red ringing during their early days. You hear horror stories over them, but they're actually rarities when it comes to occurrence.
