How do HobbyLink Japan's pre-orders work?
 

This is getting frustrating. I have no idea how HobbyLink Japan's pre-orders work. Right now there's an Order Status Check page:

I tried to submit the "Ship available items and continue to wait for others" option about 3 days ago and after a day or so, it returned me back to this page. Yet, when I did nothing last time, my item was backordered.

Should I submit it a second time? I need to know this urgently because it's a Go-busters item and they're released this Saturday! Thanks!

There's no penalty to submitting it more than once. Why would you even have to ask us that?

"Oh, that button we have to ship items right away? Yeah, you can only use it once. Second time, we cancel your order entirely! MWAHAHAHAHAHA!"

Also, you've blurred out the name of an item so it's not identified... except you told us it's from Go-Busters, it's in-stock Saturday, and you secured the preorder already, you just have to make sure you don't let it slip through your fingers. Biiiiiiiiiig secret, dude. :lol

I spammed that button like crazy for my figuarts Gokai Blue and Green orders.

You only have ONE item ordered, chances are you'll get it! It's when you pre-order more than one item on the same order that HLJ screws you over.

So yes, your Morphin Brace will be shipped, have some patience, HLJ can take a while to process pre-orders, pressing that ship now button means nothing on a pre-order.

preorders on hlj do not guarantee you an item, its a first come first come first serve system that really needs to be re thought out.

Only having one item does make it likely that you'll get it though.

Sorry but they've screwed myself and others I know plenty of times who only had one order. They screwed me over last year with the Mobilerates. After a month of it being stuck in preorder limbo I was lucky to catch a restock on amiami and cancelled it.

Right now but go-buster ace is listed as "low stock" and like CG89 my morphin brace is still listed as "order stop". I really hope its not going to be deja-vu.

Haha well, I wasn't sure what I was thinking too. :D Maybe something along the lines of not pressing the button at the right time, like at a slot machine. HLJ's pre-orders sure seem to work that way.

I wasn't sure why I blurred it too, but when I realized it I was too lazy to re-upload a new screenshot. :lol It's one of those things that happened when I was in a panic frenzy to create this thread; I also realize now the URGENT part of the title was stupid but I can't change it anymore.

I dunno, I saw the pre-orders for Go-Buster Ace on HLJ last night go back up, and they just sent me a payment request. First come, first served? They must have gotten a crap ton of this guy in if that is the case. Not calling you a liar, I am just pointing out what happened to me now, heh. I have been screwed once before though, on the Meteor Driver. They didn't get as many as they opened pre-orders for, so I had to wait a few more weeks. No big deal though.

Well they screwed me out of ace. I really don't understand with them waiting as long as they did I figured they knew what the shpping numbers would be. I scored a morphin brace from cstoys and had i known would have gotten ace also. Sad to say hlj isn't what it used to be. I've done business with them for years and a preorder used to mean somthing.

Man, no Morphing Brace for me! It was just one item that I submitted for shipping ahead of time! How could it have not gone through?

How does one ever trust Hobby Link Japan again? Sigh, if I had known I'd wake early and watch CSToys. I was just so confident with HLJ this time because I had only one item and submitted my request earlier than usual.

This is why I leave HLJ as a last resort, and even then I don't get my hopes up until I get a payment request, HLJ doesn't understand the concept of pre-order.

Sadly HLJ was the last resort this time :lol. I pretty much missed out on all the pre-orders from all the major websites. I thought being more vigilant would actually help this time but I guess I was wrong. Their "submit for shipping" system is no better than waiting to pounce on pre-orders at AmiAmi or any other website. It's no pre-order at all.

Wait... did you pre-order Ace from HLJ before I did? I pre-ordered it from them on Friday, and they gave me the payment request last night. If this is the case, there IS something wrong with their system, that's not fair at all..

This is pretty much what I'm thinking right now. I've got other items on pre order and I'm considering cancelling them. Also, watch CS toys tonight about 8pm(EST). Their going to do another activation round. I'm hoping they have some more GBA to go around.

Its sad that once upon a time they were ones first and only choice. But it seems that ever since they moved into that bigger building along with Hobby Search and AmiAmi opening its doors to the west they've just gone down hill.



I preorderd last Friday when they first put them up and I ordered the Morphin Brace Monday. When I logged in this morning to cancel my MB order my GBA which was listed as "low stock" was changed to "discontinued" AKA "we don't know when we're getting a restock". I couldn't believe it and just cancelled both. I'll never preorder an item with them again. They've lost a customer of 6 years.

I've never had this happen to me, but it really sucks to hear all these stories about them. I'll definitely be keeping them as a last resort in future.

They have often been my first resort, since Hobby Search and AmiAmi sell out before you can blink. At least HLJ you can blink twice before the pre-orders go down ;)

But yeah, I had my Meteor gear backordered when the initial run came out. Got it not long after though, next shipment.

I suppose I'm quite lucky in that the US' "stay up and camp on amiami" is my "get up slightly early and camp on amiami" :lol

Another sad thing about HobbyLink is that given how long they took to get Go-busters pre-orders up, we thought they'd fix the lack of stock issues prevalent during the Gokaiger period. Maybe they counted the stock before deciding how many pre-order slots to set up. Too bad this wasn't the case.

Well, I'll have 2 Morphin' Brace and 1 DX Go-Buster Ace up for sale soon in my sales thread.

I did not see this message or I would have waited before ordering...but anyhow Mr S has got my business. I don't mind buying from him, his store is excellent despite the high prices.

Yeah if I'm not lucky enough to score a preorder from amiami CS Toys will be getting my money from now on. I'd rather support a small business than one that started small and got too big.

Yeah, CSToys might not have the best prices, but their customer service is some of the BEST ever. He is such a great guy.

Having NEVER pre-ordered from HLJ before does anyone have advice for me getting my grubby mitts on Kyoryuger stuff?

HLJ and preorders - be prepared to wait with a queasy feeling in your gut for a few days after you see people getting their payment requests from AmiAmi etc. HLJ is slow for stocking stuff.

No kidding, they shipped my Magiranger key set three months after the official release date.

Personally I don't trust HLJ pre-orders, they have never come in on time for me. It's just how their system works, it's not a guaranteed thing.

well i had to pre-order D-art mewtwo from them due to the pre-order stop getting stocked at amami where i am getting my D-art charizard

Well I put my Kyoryuger pre-orders in before anyone else started posting the same so maybe I'll be lucky and get my payment request this weekend? I dunno...I just worry about using HLJ for non in-stock items. I may end up biting the bullet and trying my luck with CSToys. Although I do find the ability to hold my items for shipping ala BBTS's Pile O' Loot...I'm torn.
