Power Rangers Megaforce Preview: The First Morph
 

The premiere of Power Rangers Megaforce draws closer and closer and thanks to the team over at Rangercrew we have yet another sneak peek at the first episode. This time, it's the team's first ever morph!

Fans will rejoice to hear that classic "It's Morphin Time!" will be returning, alongside a chant of "Go Go Megaforce!".

Power Rangers Megaforce premieres THIS SATURDAY at 1pm EST on Nickelodeon!

Ok that was very cool. I have to say it i love that It's morphin time is back not a super fan of the GO GO Megaforce part but i don't hate it so i'm good.

so it's both IT'S MORPHIN TIME and GO GO MEGAFORCE. huh

Nice re-use of the original line from MMPR, "Zordon/Gosei told us these morphers would give us power".

I was expecting Azim's statement during one of the interview videos that the morph would be "unlike you've ever seen before" to not be a huge deal, and indeed the ending is basically the Goseiger henshin, but I LOVE how they've modified the original sequence because it pays homage to Wild Force (animal helments coming up from behind) and SPD (backflip before helmet on). With Saban touting all the history being incorporated into this season, I can't help but feel that, for once, these similarities are intentional.

Let's summarize what we just saw:

-"Gosei said these morphers would give us power. Let's use them." Harkens back to what Jason said about Zordon and the morphers in "Day of the Dumpster". Awesome nod.
-"It's Morphin' Time! Go go Megaforce!" I really wished it was just the former. I'm sick of the whole "GO GO *Team name*" thing here.
-And it looks like they use the same morphing theme from Samurai, along with the modified chant of "Earth's defenders never surrender" instead of "Rangers together, Samurai forever".
-Morphing sequence itself looks nifty, though.
-Anyone who has good eyes can see that the cards they use are Goseiger cards, complete with Japanese writing.

I was kind of hoping that since this is a new series/season, Saban would actually use new soundtracks instead of rehashing what was left over from Samurai. I don't mind hearing "GO GO Power Rangers" again, but I would have liked a new theme and new music to go along with the new show.

I Like the morph, but are the back flips really nessicary?

Yeah I saw the cards were the Japanese version. I saw them and was all WTH?

I wish they used Gosei Morphers instead of Tensouders.

2 things:
- Take out the "GO GO" and have them call out their animal instead of Megaforce.
- whoever is doing these transformation scenes needs to stop being addicted to back flips, they are ridiculous unless only one of the team is doing it during morphing.

Not helping my uneasy feelings about this cast.

This.And the fact they didn't even try to change half of the stuff from Megaforce,just a few things.It's a brand new series Saban,change it up a little more please.Since Gokaiger is part of Megaforce,does this mean next series we'll hear "Go Go Gobusters"? lol

Oh lord.

It feels rather... unbalanced. They have to back flip, have their head eaten by their motif animal, and shout out their name, just to get their helmet. Yet the suit just appears like that? I'm not buying it.

I noticed this with the deck-o-cards animation that was from the Goseiger roll call footage, but I didn't realize them with the footage with the Megaforce actors until you posted those photos. Are... they even trying?

Well, they're reusing music from Samurai, using actual Goseiger cards instead of Megaforce cards, and Gosei Great just has Megazord slapped on as a surname.

Try harder, Saban. Try harder. But I'm withholding judgment until we see the first episode. Who knows, maybe they'll surprise us.

Yeah, I'm really wondering where the statement of this being "the most expensive season yet" came from. Obviously, the money didn't go towards music, in-show cards, or names.

I like this. The only thing that upsets me is how the Gosei Morpher doesn't SAY anything. Or am I just not hearing it? :/

It might be that I liked Shinkenger a lot more than Goseiger, but Megaforce looks pretty cool to me. A lot better than Samurai. And I haven't liked a PR series in AGES. I don't mind the re-use of stuff so much.

Oh dearie me, that did not add to my confidence about this show. How incompetent of an actor can Troy get? Is it really that hard to act at least a little enthusiastic? Just a little?
I don't see why they felt the need to use Japanese cards either. That's not so bad, but everything here felt a little cheap.

I love how they don't even move their mouths to speak.

Don't disappoint me, Saban. You seem to know what you are doing.

nope, there are no sounds accept open morpher sound that's it.

probably the unmorphed footage fighting scenes and bringing in actors for season 2.

Yeah, that's probably my only complaint of any footage we've been shown. Why the hell doesn't the morpher even work like it's supposed to. God Damn it.

That was one of the lamest morph scenes ever.

It looks like they were going for a Dino Thunder/SPD style of acrobatics, but it's too slow and the sky background with the cartoony animal shapes looks really, really cheap. :/ Seems like there should have been either the zords or more detailed animal depictions instead of those really basic, silly-looking ones. Also, the rangers face at about a 45 degree angle away from the camera, then their helmet goes on and they're facing 90 degrees away? Huh?

And the catchphrases still stink.

...That wasn't that good IMO.

I enjoyed it.

Yes, the cringe-worthy "Let's use them" line had me cringing. The "Follow my lead" part was fine, and no one will ever be able to say "It's morphin' time!" like Jason and Tommy could.

If you're expecting Oscar-winning performances, you're going to be disappointed. Though Ciara Hanna thus far is my favorite, her acting seems great thus far, and we've only had a couple snippets.

To be fair, those animals that eat their heads were in Goseiger.

Wait... that doesn't make it fair, that makes Saban look worse. :p

Hating Non-Believers, every single one of you. What kind of a world do we live in where the only one on my side is Kickback?! My world-veiw is shattered! That was epic. I enjoyed every second of it, I love they kept the Japanese cards. It's not Lazy. I also love their call is "It's Morphin' Time, Go Go Megaforce!". Makes me think for when, for some reason, they switch to Gokaiger they'll do the same for the other teams!

Wow you guys complain too much. It's not a damn Hollywood movie. it's a kids show meant for kids. I thought the morphine sequence was great. They looked wonderful.

Am I the only one wildly confused by the fact that the cards still say Gosei Red, Blue, etc on the front of them when they materialize in their hands? And right after finishing the morph?

Keeping the original Japanese cards when they produced their own entire card line is lazy. This isn't supposed to be Goseiger: The American Saga.

It's not cool.

It's lazy and frankly, as Den-O too feels, confusing. The cards don't represent what is being said or what kids will actually be able to get. They won't know how to read Japanese, so seeing those cards flashed is just going to lead to confusion about what they are.

Howcome Kamen Rider is targeted for kids but still has MILES better acting?
