[DEBUNKED] New S.H. MonsterArts Godzilla 2000 Prototype?
 

Saw this popping up on a few of the Godzilla web sites:

Sculptor Yuji Sakai's blog has this listed as "coming soon". It shows a new sculpt silhouette of Godzilla 2000. Could this be an upcoming Monsterarts figure?

Sadly the website isblocked for me at the moment... I'd love a Millenium syle Goji Monsterarts though!

I personally love the godzilla 2000 design. If they make him they better make orga to.

I would be surprised if that's the direction the line would go in. I'd gladly pick this up, but I know a lot of collectors are wishing it would jump into the Showa era monsters.

I'm hoping we get some confirmation at Toy Fair.

On the one hand, I'd REALLY want a MonsterArts of that design. It's my favorite. On the other hand, I'm trying to spend less money.

If it is a new release, I don't see Orga far behind. That's one of the few characters I don't have any representations in my Godzilla collection.

I'm one of those who would love Showa monsters, BUT:

1. Millenium Style Goji is very popular and sells a lot of merchandise. His design lends itself well to the MonsterArts line and is very striking with his sharp fangs and giant spiky spines.

2. Doing a Millenium Style Goji means that the gates would now be open to do Kiryu, a character which SCREAMS for a MonsterArts figure and would be met with an enthusiastic reaction, I think.

2a. It would also allow you to do Final Wars Gigan, another extremely popular updated design which has already shown to be a good seller.

If this meanings S.H. MonsterArts Kiryu is coming soon as well, I am every excited.

Bandai releasing this would finally make me crack on MonsterArts, I keep putting off getting the Chogokin in hope that its one day coming.

Any one of those figures would be enough for me to bite the bullet and grab a Monster Art.

Yup. The good ole "alien who hid in a rock for 1000 years then got mutated immediately and then ate a bunch of Organizer G1 and then died." Gotta love him!

Also I have to laugh, because you and I were just talking about MonsterArts moving to the Millenium era this weekend, Beast. Heh.

Like, despite my raging hatred for ZEROs, Orga would probably be the one character I'd have no qualms being a statue. Aside from the games and the climax to his movie, I honestly don't remember much else about him :lol

And if they move to Millennium, that's fine. Lowers chances for MG1, but I'm willing to settle for Kiryu (Hope they include an effect part for his Absolute Zero attack).

I want either a 54, 89, or GMK Godzilla.

I'll see that and raise -- it'd never happen but how cool would it be to have the effect for both the Absolute Zero Cannon AND the Triple Maser Cannon from GMM? :D

I've always preferred the 2000 design over the others. I'll wait till I see a price though before I decide if I really need it or not.

It's a shame only because I was hoping for Zilla. The movie was godaweful but I really loved that version of Godzilla. But 2000 isn't a bad way to go. I enjoyed the movie, and the design was a real change for the beastie. Looking forward to this.

It better come with both claws and chainsaw arms as well as a removable head.

To be fair, all the heads on the MonsterArts are removable. It might break something, but it still comes off...

I would get a Monsterartys Zilla just because of how awesome his kid was in the animated series. They'd have to include a green fire breath effect part to make sure it was him, though.

Millennium Godzilla, Zilla Jr and Millennium Gigan would make me get into Monsterarts for sure. They're my three favourite Kaiju designs ever.

I'm honestly surprised at all the love Zilla is getting.
However, I'm unsure on a figure. Zilla's design would be pretty top heavy, standing more like a tyrannosaurus than a kaiju standing straight up, and having a pretty large head with large arms.

I know there has been glimpses of one so I imagine you will get her at some point!

I think it could work out fine given that the legs had proper articulation. It would be somewhat like a bulked out Godzilla Jr.

I loved the design when the movie first came out. And then I slowly began to appreciate the Japanese Godzilla more and joined the whole "Zilla" boat. I would buy a figure if it was as articulated as it needs to be.

It's one of the great things about this site. I had never seen so many people who dug Goseger before coming here.

Beyond the legs, the crucial aspects of a MA Zilla would be the feet and ankles.

Zilla (the actual monster... so to speak) has very large feet with heel spurs, much like a Tyrannosaurus or Allosaurus. As we have seen with Transformers toys since the Beast era, if you have a stiff ball joint on the ankle and then large feet and heel spurs, you can support top heavy designs well. So the keystone is that ankle joint. You make that sturdy, and you can support te sauropod stance he walks with.

Along similar lines of thought, I hope that if we ever get an Anguirus or especially a Baragon, I'd like the see the jointing be flexible enough but retain the necessary sturdiness to go from quadrapedal or bipedal and back. This would not be a deal breaker for me on Anji but on Baragon you'd better believe it.

Between Ghidorah and Burning Godzilla getting me ][ this close to buying some of these, Millennium Godzilla would punt me 200 yards over the line and Kiryu would be an Epic Nerdgasm.....

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the site just confirmed that this will only be a model kit. :(

Bah. I don't like Model-Kits...

A model kit in what scale though? I'll probably pass, but if it ever goes on sale and we never see a MonsterArts version, I could bite.

And my interest went straight to null.
I'm not a fan of non-mech models.

While cool that we are getting another G2000 model kit, there's already plenty of them out there.

So one more is not that big of a deal.

This coming from one of a family of modellers, oddly.
