New GARO movie announced - “Soukoku no Maryu”
 

Fear not GARO fans! Makai Senki might almost be over but there's still more to come!

The official GARO website has updated with a placeholder image for an upcoming movie, entitled "GARO: Soukoku no Maryu". A teaser for the movie can be seen below.

HenshinJustice have translated the title of the movie to "GARO: Dragon of the Blue Cry" and the text within the teaser as;

Are you like me? Looking forward to the finale of Makai Senki but wishing that we'd still get more Garo? Well, it looks like our prayers have been answered:

We're getting another Garo movie.

Not much beyond that is available yet, but in an interview here Hiroki Konishi indicates that it will be Kouga's final battle (at least that's what the guy who posted the link at HJU says - I can't read a lick of it).

Garo, is one crazy ride! Can't wait XD

I have no idea wtf Garo is, but that teaser makes me want to find out.

Garo is one of the most awesome, badass toku series out there. The original show aired in 2005 but came back in '10 with a new movie, followed by the currently wrapping Makai Senki series. Both shows are about a dude named Saejima Kouga who's part of an order of magic knights who protects modern day Japan from demonic creatures called Horrors. The show has some fantastic monster designs and wire fu action scenes, plus some pretty good CGI for the battle scenes involving the Garo armor. It also has a lot of really likable characters and some very deep mythology. Garo's an amazing show - just don't watch it at work. The series aired at midnight for a reason.

So next weekend is the final episode for Makai, right?

Anyway, I hope this movie turns out better than Red Requiem, which was just awful.

Sentai, Garo is like Onimusha meets Devil May Cry meets Kamen Rider.

The first series is by far the best, and definitely worth watch. In fact, the first series is one of the best TOku shows ever. Then there was a two part special called Beast of White Night which was well done. Last year came a terrible movie called Red Requiem, and a pointless OVA called Kiba that served no purpose at all. Finally, in Oct they released a second season, called Makai, which has been good, but nowhere near as good as the first season. It is still worth checking out though.

Kinda. The last episode aired this week. Next week's episode is a apparently a really weirdly placed clip show.

So glad this has been announced, the past 2 weeks I marathoned all of Garo in order to catch up to the finale of Makai Senki(which I did) and was afraid I wouldn't see anymore Garo for a while.

From the phrasing as "Kouga's Final Battle", I assumed it was refering to this upcoming movie.

So they are pulling an Evangelion? Are they also making it a clipshow you have to watch?

wow, I rememebr when ep. 26 originally aired of the first series, I was completly satisfied and saw no reason for more....I'm glad they waited 5 years to continue it bevause this has been marvelous!

For violence or sex or?

Violence and occasional nudity.

Don't forget the disturbing imagery. It gets into some nightmare fuel a couple of times.

The mermaid episode always creeped me out the most.

You've convinced me. I definately need to find this somewhere. I even looked up the figures on BBTS, and Kiva just looks epic. So does Winged Garo.

TV-Nihon has subbed everything of Garo (think they even subbed a making of video). Over-Time has subbed Red Requiem, Kiba Gaiden, and the 2nd series Makai Senki (anything after Over-Time started subbing really). I was told once another group subbed the original series, but I can't remember who.

You know what, I thought all of them were great, but it is the episode with the father that stands out for me the most. Not because he was disturbing or creepy, but because it was something that had never been done before.

For those who are not sure what I am talking about, I am referring to the fire/ice girl's father that wanted revenge on Kouga for killing his daughter since she had become a Horror.

So happy Makai Senki is not the end. I love this second era of Garo!

Garo is known as a "Hyper Midnight Action Drama". It's came on at that time due to some of the themes in the show, most kids are in bed at that time lol!

If you look at Amemiya's work. Most of his big projects are 5-6 years apart. He's a schemer lol!

sweet! now lets see him do a follow up to Hakaider! I wanna see the walls bleed again!
