My Idea for Why There Doesn't Seem to be Known Ranger History in PRMF
 

I hope this is the right spot for this, my apologies if it's not.

But I've been wondering how the past rangers, the legend war dream, and the seemingly complete lack of knowledge about any past ranger history might all tie in together.

It seems Troy doesn't know who or what the rangers are that he's been seeing in his dream. He recognizes the key statues at the base, but if anyone had the slightest clue about the past 20 years you'd think they would go 'hey, a Power Ranger'. The lady that Noah saves is also unaware of what a ranger is. Now that could just be bad writing, which after Samurai is entirely possible, but it led me to this thought over the past few days.

What if it's on purpose? I'm thinking that the staff may have taken the ultimate power in the universe bit from Gokaiger and turned it on it's head. When the Zangyack invade, Tensou awoke. I'm guessing that they would have been outmatched, and nearing defeat, combined their powers to drive the Zangyack away. But this lead to the consequence of them losing their powers, and everyone forgetting who they are.

My guess is that the lost power left behind the ranger statues and the Megaforce Rangers at some point learn to tap into that from the cards. But I'm not so sure they'll just become the rangers ala Gokaiger. I'm thinking that they might be able to summon a ranger, like a JF Spirit Ranger to fight with them. That eliminates the problems with the first 6 years of multiple people playing multiple ranger colors.

Just having some fun speculating, what are your thoughts on this take?

It's a neat idea, but doesn't weren't the Megaforce rangers present for all that? Why would they lose their memories but not their powers?

Well in my theory, the legend war we see happens at the end of season 1 of Megaforce, it's not the actual battle that causes them to reset the stage. That way the Megaforce rangers are leading the charge at the actual Legend War, having summoned all the ranger spirits possible. I'm making a big assumption that what Troy is seeing are premonitions, not flashbacks though.

so your saying that there was already a huge war, and everyone else just fought in it and no else knows about it ?

Something like that. It was the ultimate choice the Gokaigers had to make at the end, give up their powers and erase all the sentai teams to reset the stage (paraphrasing of course). I'd thought the way the series had played out so far seems to fit into a world where the slate has already been wiped clean so to speak.

It's hard to say. Part of me wants to say that they wouldn't, and what we've seen so far is just a consequence of shoehorning two sentai shows together that don't really fit.

However another part of me wants to believe that they are really trying this year, and some episodes so far support that, so they might, it's anyone's call right now. But if I were writing it, I'd downplay that forgotten battle severely to make the legend war even more impressive. Maybe just a few scenes of the rangers gathered around Gosei and the consoles (but Gosei not yet awoke), and using those consoles they effectively reset the stage. Their human bodies are teleported back with no knowledge of their past, and their ranger spirits take the form of key statues on the walls. No one remembers the rangers, but there's no immediate danger anymore.

Of course we all know how that battle ends, but we've been told that the Gosei suits are in both seasons, so who knows lol

This is a great theory..But how could they do cameos and such in season 2? I mean Gokaiger cameos from past sentai's were "We trust you pirates now you can use our grand powers"...If "Super" Megaforce...Is going to make them suddenly remember be a bit weird...The spirits megaforce card is neat which I will agree on.

my theory is that the defeat of the final evil, normally leading to the rangers retiring/moving on in their lives, is a mystic reset button that erases the whole thing from peoples minds.

Because lets be honest, after 20 years of giant monsters attacking the world on a weekly basis, the fact that the population doesnt exist in perpetual terror is a bit odd
