OOO Appreciation Thread!
No, not a thread that appreciates me :P.
This is a thread for people who enjoyed our little "underpants for tomorrow" carrying, desire-less, goofball and his series! Discuss here! :D |
Absolutely loved it. Perfect mix of serious, and goofy ass fun in my opinion.

OOOs is a great, fun series. Shame it kinda lost focus towards the end.
|
My enjoyment out of OOO wavered a lot. It started off strong, started losing direction, picked up when Birth was introduced... then just started going downhill and never really picked itself up again. The ending especially was atrocious.

I felt the opening 15 episodes were relatively weak. Ankh and Eiji were bloody fantastic from episode 3, and I loved the Greeeds, but the opener was relatively weak and the secondary characters seemed to be ill defined. Things picked up slightly when Kazari made his move, but it wasn't until Ankh's storyline kicked off in episode 19 and 20 that I was hooked. The relationships between the two main protagonists carries this series, but the growth of Maki, the finding of place for the secondary characters and the almost bipolar nature of the second half of the show compared to the first make this in my opinion one of the strongest series. I ADORE the ending, and the PuToTyra/Purple Core storyline is to die for. Like Blade, get over the first hump and this is sublime. Becomes very dark, very mature, but like W, remembers to give you a few laughs.

OOO is currently my second favorite Rider series. I highly enjoyed the perfect mix of humor, seriousness, and action. I absolutely loved Eiji's character arc towards the end where he struggles to remain his humanity and not become a Greeed. Also, Ankh is awesome. Not the best part like he proclaimed the in net movies for Let's Go, but still a great character.

I'm about 20 something episodes into it, I lost focus on it for a while and just came back to it recently. Still enjoying it quite a bit. Some of the designs look a bit...odd, but I still dig it. But it sounds like that may change based on what I am reading in this thread :(

I enjoyed OOO pretty much the whole way through, but I have to admit it did feel a bit rushed near the end, and I think we all have a good idea as to why. OOO really needed that 49th episode but it still a good series, easily in my top 5 Rider shows.
|
I personally enjoyed the show, I also like how they keep Ankh dead until the crossover movie, unlike Philip, who gets brought back an episode later, even if it's technically a year later. Feels like a copout for me.

OOO is sweet, one of my favorite moments would probably be Birth's introduction. The show teases the idea of Goto being Birth for a bit, and then when you finally see him, the show slaps the viewer in the face by pulling a new character out of nowhere. Said character is awesome.
I also like how the first thing he does after blowing up a monster (of course) is say hi to OOO, compare that to the usual rider introduction. For instance, in Fourze, Meteor shows up, punches Garren, and then up and leaves. Mysterious, yes, but I just really prefer my Kamen Riders to, you know, communicate with one-another. |

Kiyo chan FTW |
I loved OOO. It was an amazing series. What made it even better was that it followed up W. Two damn good series back to back.
