I finally saw it today. Had to pass due to lack of funds. VERY TEMPTING THOUGH, I want it now but oh well I plan on getting it eventually. Next to it was an empty space for the Legacy Megazord...but...screw that I would rather have DX ShinkenOh!

Have any of you picked it up? I think it's cool that BoA brought it over.

I picked it up actually and it's very nice. I've always passed on the BOJ release just because it wasn't a priority. But seeing it in person convinced me pretty quick. It's a straight up re-release of the BOJ figure. The ONLY differences being a new set of English instructions and the cardboard sleeve reading "Power Rangers 20" around the box.

Picked it up when it was on sale here in Canada (which is still on going), and I kind of expected it to be a little bigger. Still doesn't mean I was disappointed though. Do not regret getting him even though I already have the Samurai one.

Also, on the topic of import zords, should I get the Gosei Great Megazord and the Lion Mechazord with the two lion legs or maybe wait for the import DX Gosei Great or maybe get both? Haha.

I really do want one, I'm just unwilling to pay the asking price 'cause I'm a cheapskate :lol
And I'm terrified of shipping one.

What left you disappointed aside from the size? How tall is it? Is there any diecast?

Most modern sentai mecha do not contain diecast beyond Gaoranger. It's pretty standard size wise for BOJ releases too. Frankly it's a far more complex and satisfying toy than the BOA release could ever hope to be.

That's good enough for me. Hopefully I can get it before the end of the month. I have a feeling it'll be easier to find than the Legacy Megazord, which is fine by me, I want ShinkenOh more.

Oh, nothing. I was super satisfied with it. I guess I was just expecting it to be noticeably larger than the Samurai one cause of the repeated mention of how BoA shrinks all the BoJ zords. But its pretty close. No die-cast, but the emblem modes are cool and I think there's just much more playability with it as compared to the Samurai one albeit at a much higher price. I think he was worth it but I just might be biased because Shinkenger was the first Sentai I watched and I like it alot. :D

If it ever makes it to Down Under, I will pick it up. As it is, importing it from US is no less costly than importing it from Japan at this point.

Wasnt Hurricaneger the last one with diecast? And BOA pretty much nixed all of it? Anyways I dont have the US release but got the Japanese version during my stay in Hong Kong last year. Really cool toy. Love the emblem modes. Just wish there was a place to store the sword and shield.

Yep! I love it! So much so that I've bought all of the auxillary mecha so I can complete Samurai Ha-Oh (even though I already have the BOA version). Leagues better than the BOA version though I like the BOA version as well.

yeah the nerfing by BOA is far overstated..... It's not really THAT bad. (SPD Morpher not withstanding)

Really? Removing the entire origami mode of all the ShinkenOh mecha? That's overstated? Anytime BOA takes a toy and fundamentally alters it to a point that it can't faithfully create what is seen on screen, that's the very definition of nerfing. And pretty much ALL of their Shinkenger stuff has been overwhelmingly nerfed.

The elimination of the emblem modes was a huge, HUGE deal-breaker for me. The Samurai Megazord bundled with that orange blue thing guy that was exclusive to TRU is now at TJ Maxx for like $20. Tempting, but the way I see it...that money can also go towards DX ShinkenOh.

For those who have DX ShinkenOh and auxillary mecha, which auxillary mecha are best for it, and which ones downright suck?

All of them are a bit mediocre tbh. Just choose one(s) you like. Or just get them all for Daitenkuu.

While I don't own them, just based on general observations, none of them are very good, but the Tora Origami does seem to be a lot better than the Kabuto and Kaijiki.

I saw it (and the Legacy Megazord) and was sorely tempted, but that's a big chunk of change, fellas. I had to leave both of them. *grumble*

If this had been a few years ago and it was Daibouken or Engine-Oh, though, you'd better believe they'd be at home right now.

Love my ShinkenOh. A bit stubbier in the legs than the Samurai Megazord, but that's what I have the minipla for (also minipla Samurai HaOh actually looks half-decent), but so much more solid, emblem modes, and no "corgie-dragon".

But as much as I like the main robot, all the combined modes are pretty stupid-looking. Kajiki ShinkenOh is mostly passable as long as you don't put the sword in the helmet. Tora ShinkenOh is a top-heavy mess, Kabuto has too much hanging off the back and looks silly, Ika is meh but not offensive, the Tenkuu combo is okay and my favored display combo, Cowboy Daikai ShinkenOh is front heavy, stubby armed, and his head is too big. The US version actually wins out there. And the Ikatenkuu Buster is just.. just... ..no

Ika DaikaiOh is decent on its own, but the BoA Clawzord is close enough to DaiKaiOh that I don't see why anyone would need both.

I actually like the BOJ DX Samurai Haoh. If I had room I'd display it just because of how crazy it is.

If I had all the pieces I'd put it side by side with my G12 just for the hell of it. It's a terrible design in show that makes no sense when you think about it. But I like big clusterfuck toys. Though the Ultimate Daibouken is still the king of clusters since it was done so well.

The thing about Samurai HaOh over most other clusters is that MougyudaiOh just stands behind Daikai ShinkenOh and gives him a loving embrace, also making up over half of the depth of the combo. And you don't really transform him much to do this combo. Rip off his shins and his arms, mainly.

At least with G12, Ultimate Daibouken, and Great Go-Buster/Go-Buster King no one robot needlessly dominates the combo as much as with HaOh.

Alright brothers I just picked this bad boy up and used my TRU coupon for 15% off resulting in a $70+ purchase. Not bad, not bad at all. Is there any place to store the sword, shield, and helmet in emblem/animal modes?

I'm satisfied with my purchase. It has been several years since I have bought a zord like this. It is substantially bigger all around compared to the BoA Samurai Megazord but not that much taller. Next to it, it looks a lot bulkier.

The engineering is great as usual, kudos to PLEX for keeping the consistency up. Transformation to any mode is fun. My main nitpicks are the sword being hollow on 1 side(WTF?), and the wrist swivel for the right hand only locking at 180 degree intervals.

Otherwise, an excellent toy. It may seem pricey but tracking down a Bandai Japan release like this online and paying to ship it over might cost about the same, since this is an older toy. I love the gold plated parts too.

The helmet is stored inside the dragon in it's animal and emblem modes. The sword and shield don't have a place to store that I'm aware.

Now I see the errors of my ways, Den-O. I was one of those who was convinced you were hating on BoA unjustly. While I do think the BoA versions have their own merits (way more affordable, sleeker, etc.) the difference between the BoA and BoJ versions of these bad boys is immediately apparent. Not only in size but in complexity/play value and overall quality. I'll probably still pick up the BoA versions from here on out (because apparently I'm either made of money or I'm just really bad about managing my money wisely...probably the latter :lol) but I'll be buying the BoJ versions too from here on out. Now to get myself a G12...*sigh....*

Alright cool thanks man! It came with instructions but I went ahead and couldn't resist transforming it. Very fun toy. I can see how a kid could get a kick out of it. The quality is just as good as I remember from back in the day.

Alright from what you guys have been saying, I'm guessing the BoA Octozord is better than it's BoJ Shinkenger DX counterpart?

Considering the US octo and the other auxiliary mecha don't have the hidden disc feature the Japanese ones do you know my answer. It doesn't look like or function like it does on the show. The Ika (Octo), Kajiki (sword), Tora (Tiger), and Kabuto (Beetle) are all a bit smaller and less functional in the US. To the point that they can't combine properly with the equally simplified Samurai Megazord.

I prefer the Japanese one for its chunkiness but I wont deny thatsome of the design changes to the auxillary zords look less rediculous than the japanese counterparts.

Hmm there are some compromises. On 1 hand it's a lot more affordable and easier to trackdown a BoA auxillary zord, on the other, the Japanese ones tend to look better(although ymmv in this case with Shinkenger mecha).

How about the Clawzord? How does the BoA fare against the BoJ DX?

BoA Octozord can extend its top out further, making it look more like a spear. Otherwise it is tiny, can't make a proper spear for Clawzord/DaikaiOh, doesn't have a Hiden Disk, and has extra junk hanging off of it to support the spinning/wheels gimmick.
Also the BoJ Octozord has better connection points on the top half for the IkaTenkuu Buster and Samurai HaOh combo so it doesn't flop around loosely like the BoA one.

EDIT: comments on Clawzord vs DaikaiOh. These two are close. Clawzord is thinner and more heroically proportioned, can't spin Hiden Disks in its claws, and has no sound (and nothing of value was lost). I think it's a near perfect translation. Even better than Gosei Grand Megazord vs Gosei Ground.

For the most part I prefer the BoJ zords because they just feel so solid. The only BoA releases I still like are RPM, but I don't care about the Engine Soul gimmick at all and have never handled the Go-Onger DX toys.
Also I like how Gosei Wonder's headders are in proportion to Gosei Great's in the BoA release and plan to get that. Still hoping the Miracle Headders are also in proportion, too.

The BoA and BoJ versions of the Clawzord are pretty darn close (especially when compared with the changes BoA made to the Samurai Megazord versus Shinken-Oh). The BoJ version is a little bigger and has electronics whereas the US version does not. Transformation is the exact same. The combo with Shinken-Oh is basically the same as well. I do like the fact that the BoJ version has chrome bits on the legs and the sounds are nice (is it me or does it sound like the announcer from the Mobirates? :lol).

Though they look similar, and seem to do the same things (minus engine Souls), the RPM Ultrazord pales in comparison to the DX Engine-oh G12. Main reasons being face plate doesnt cover face and arms are a floppy mess due to tiny connectors.

Interesting...I might buy that Clawzord + Samurai Megazord bundle at TJ Maxx after all..for $20 I think I can deal with the compromises.

Honestly the Samurai Megazord Clawzord combo looks better with the BoA versions. For one his head (not even counting the headdress) isn't freakishly huge on it.
Biggest minus is that the Ape Zord can't fold up to dangle off the back like in the show, but you can just keep the Turtle Zord in arm mode so at least they look similar.

Bought Shinken-Oh today and and after playing with for a while I definitely don't think I would have enjoyed the BoA version. It is way to much fun. I hate to say it but my I am probably gonna have to look into getting more of the origami. The double whammy is that I am watching Shinkenger right now so that doesn't help. But it is gonna be fun getting more of these and working my way up to the ridiculous origami combo.

Watching Shinkenger cemented my desire for DX ShinkenOh. I didn't know how I was going to get one at the time, but thankfully, BoA announced that they were bringing it over as a TRU exclusive, and...it's like they say, things happen for a reason, and here I am today with my DX ShinkenOh.

BTW guys if you bought yours at TRU there is a pink sheet inside with a URL for a BoA collector survey. I already took the survey once I got home today. I think it's worth filling it out as it gives BoA an idea of how many collectors buy their products and what they look for. It asks what you like best and what you think is the worst aspect of their Power Rangers toys.

Hopefully this paves the way for more DX imports as TRU exclusives, SRC's here, Figuarts, et al.

So upon seeing this thread i just finished opening my BOJ Shinken-Oh i got from tru today and let me tell you. I got Samurai Megazord in a mad rush when he came out cause i couldn't get Shinken-oh cause of price. So i got all of the BOA Samurai zords and now i have Shinken-oh and i'm ready to put all of those guys in storage or get rid of them. The complex'er nature of Shinken-Oh to Samurai Megazord is well alone worth the 79.99 i paid for him. I wanna get the battlewing origami zords next so i can have a more show accurate Shinken-Oh.
