Ultimate Ranger Team Tournament - Red Division Round 2
 

Let’s play a game: The Gokaiger adaptation isn’t season two of Megaforce, it’s a brand new series with a brand old cast. The six Rangers are all returning characters from previous Ranger teams, gathered together to face off against the most powerful evil ever. But which six Rangers? That’s where this tournament comes in.

We’re going to cast this team with the very best Red Ranger, very best Pink Ranger, very best Blue Ranger, very best Yellow Ranger, very best Grack/Bleen Ranger, and very best Sixth Ranger.

The rules are simple: the Rangers of each color fight it out to see which one stands at the top of their personal section of the rainbow. The winners will be determined by popular vote, feel encouraged to explain your choices to help sway the undecided. Fights are all-out brawls – any power-up or weapon is permitted, short of the Zords.

Battles are decided by random selection and each character is represented for each of their colors (Rocky and TJ are in both Red and Blue, Tommy is in Red and Sixth, etc.). Rangers with multiple powers in the same color will be using the ones which are most unique to them (Adam is Zeo Green, Cassie is Space Pink, etc. – yes, this kinda shafts the Turbo Rangers, I know – all three Turbo fans are free to register their complaints). All major teams are represented, MMPR through Megaforce. Evil Rangers like the Psychos and A-Squad - as well as one-shot Rangers like Cat or SPD Red Bridge - are excluded.

Because my random number generator of choice seems to be skewing high, we're going to be continuing with another bout between two of the more recent Reds. This time up it's a cross-dimensional clash between a post-apocalyptic racer and the real heir to the Shiba clan:

Will Scott's second encounter with the Samurais get into a higher gear? Will Lauren last longer in this tournament than she did on the show? Which Ranger will reign supreme?

I shall award this match to Lauren. Scott couldn't save the Samurai saga, but I could feel the series get better soon after Lauren had spoken her first few lines. Furthermore, in addition to having a lot of mojika—er, I mean, "symbol power"— Lauren also has years of intensive training under her belt. Additionally, she's the besy Red Ranger we ever had.

Or at least, that's how I would vote, if there was a poll. :p

EDIT: Ah, there it is.

Scott. He had alot of things that she could never hope to have. Like personality, the ability to lead a team, a soul. Scott is just a better read than Miss Shiba could ever hope to be.

Except Lauren can burn books. :p

Obviously I'm going for Scott, since RPM is a way better show than Samurai. :lol

Yea I'm going for, Scott as well I mean, Lauren been living by herself with out a team. Granted her skills might be good also those symbol powers, but I think, Scott wins this round.

Shame the rare female Red is against one of the best Red in the first round. If only she was fighting Mack instead. Oh well, Scott is the better Red here.

PS Speaking of female Reds, are we including A Squad? They're a legitimate Power Ranger team...just evil.

Eh. I'm giving it to Lauren.
She has years of training under her belt, additionally, she has a wealth of symbol power.
She's just too skilled to lose, regardless of series quality.

This is pretty much where I'm at on this one - Lauren's entire life was about training to be the Red Ranger. Scott's okay, but he never seemed like on of the more powerful or skilled Reds - although part of that is probably the fact that Dillon, Ziggy, and Summer got way more screentime than he did.

You guys forget that this isn't a fight. This is to determine who the best Red is for the Ultimate team. While Reds are strong, Red is also the leader. In my book, being the leader means nothing if you can't lead. For an Ultimate team, Red must have great leadship abilities. Lauren isn't much of a leader. Scott isn't the best leader, but he's at least a good one. Scott wins this because he is the more ideal leader and that's what an Ultimate Power Rangers team needs for a Red.

Lauren was meant to be more of a savior. The other Rangers were meant to protect her. Lauren performed considerably well as a leader given the circumstances surrounding her team. Furthermore, Lauren is the best Red Ranger we have gotten in years. Just about every Red Ranger before her was an idiot. True, Scott was an exception, but again—Lauren saved the Samurai saga. Scott couldn't even do that.

And this is precisely why I'm going for Scott. Lauren is a good Ranger, but living years in isolation means she doesn't have solid team experience. Scott, for his occasional bouts of arrogance, is a really fine leader with intense determination. Lauren can't lead a team as well as Jayden, that's why she conceded to him.

Lauren may have more firepower and fighting skill, but its debatable if she is that capable in applying those on the battlefield considering her lesser experience in actual combat situations.

It is debatable if Lauren saving the Samurai saga is really a big deal. It wasn't a terrific show to begin with. Some could even argue that Scott did decently well in the Samurai "movie" despite being constricted to an in-suit appearance and not being a main character of his own show in the first place. Being a good character on a sub-par show is not as impressive as being a good character on a great show.

Finally consider the fact that Lauren failed in her mission while Scott did not.

Scott all the way. He proved himself to be a true leader when the Power Rangers were facing overwhelming odds.

Lauren trained all her life, yet when what she trained for turned out to achieve nothing the day was saved by Jayden, not her. Plus she never really proved to have very good leader qualities over her team.

If by saved you mean "made everyone look better because she was so bland", then yes I agree with you.

Considering what Kimberly Crossman had to work with, Lauren was a catalyst for the change in quality.

Furthermore, Lauren has the larger Zord.

We're comparing Zords? :lol How can we tell if the Lion FoldingZord is bigger than the Eagle Racer? They should be both about the same size. In fact, there might be evidence of the Eagle Racer being slightly larger due to it forming part of a three-piece Megazord vs the Lion FoldingZord which forms part of a five-piece Megazord.

Zords don't factor into this, it's just a melee one-on-one with all available non-giant-robot weapons and modes.

would lauren have access to the red shogun battleizer and any other disks jayden had?

If she did on the show, then yes.

Theoretically she'd have had access to them, but she never used them on the show. Maybe super mode, I don't remember.

thats my point,she didnt on thr show but if she could use them for this battle i change my vote.

Well I know were not counting Sentai counter-parts, but Shiba Karou had access to them...But it would be a odd fight when you think about it since, Scott has access to a power disk due to the movie, either way I just think Scott is a better leader the only thing got in the way of his leadership in PRM was the other rangers personal emotions but that's understandable.

I was using "Zord" as a shortened form of "Ultrazord/Gigazord," but it doesn't matter anyway.

However, Lauren has used the LightZord as a disk shooter.
