Let's Watch Wednesdays Week 10 Gekiranger 28-30!
This week we begin with the introduction of the 5th Gekiranger, GekiChopper!
What amazing ability does the mysterious Ken posses? And what does he have to do with the SouJyuTou that Rio now seeks in his quest for power? Let's Watch Jyuken Sentai Gekiranger 28-30! |
While I was watching episode 29, the video stopped on this.

Ken is awesome. Mele is hot. That is all.
|
So Jungle Fury fans, how does Ken stack up to Dominic? (And vice versa to Gekranger fans)
Me? I'm surprised that the whole "save a girl from a falling object by channeling energy into a blade" thing exists in both shows. |
I didn't watch them yet, but I always felt Ken's introduction was too fast paced, especially compared to how long and well paced Gou's was (Also too close to Gou's intro).

Ken's intro seems a bit rushed, but timed perfectly what with Rio trying to go to Jyugenkyo, where Ken happens to have just arrived from. I 100% believe that when Miki and Shafu mentioned evolving the Gekirangers by adding another member they meant Ken. That's why his appearance is timed so closely to Gou. Gou should have been dead but because he appeared he became the fourth member first. If you take Gou out of the equation, being a wild card and all, then Ken appears pretty appropriately. His Geki Kensan is an interesting ability, I guess it's supposed to give him something unique on the level of KaGeki and ShiGeki. But Ken is a fun awesome dude that on my first watch through I thought I'd never like. But he has some really great moments later on. He may have appearaed suddenly but he's a pretty cool dude. |
Ossu!
And now the final memember of the Gekirangers has joined the cast, Hisatsu Ken(really subtle their Toei :lol). He's a laid back dude who really care about his family. The Amazing Ability he has is pretty cool. Being able to make his Geki to cut is useful, as we see with in his fight with Niwa and a fight coming up in a future episode. There will be more to state on Ken in upcoming episodes, because his debut isn't complete just yet. Now for talking about other events. We see a moment of irratation from Long because Rio left for the Jyugenkyo without his knowing. That's a telling moment there right. Long confronts Rio disguised as Jan, Gou, and Shafu and tells him he needs the Soujyutou to enter it. So Rio goes back and has Mele start searching for it. Maku shows that while he might be the lazy villian type, he isn't unaware of others ambitions like Doukuku from Shinkenger was. My favorite moment of this trio of episodes was Mele's obtaining of Dorinki. She had be goaded by Long into fighting dirty twice by kidnapping Sachiko and then trying to kill Sachiko after losing to Ken. The look on her face when she emitted Dorinki is a face of a person furious that they had trampled over their standards. Finally, we have Mele going back to Rinjyuden and breaking Rio out of his punishment solitary so they can head for the Jyugenkyo. Really looking forward to the next two LWWs because things are about to get REALLY good. CHESTO! |
Osu!
Finally watched the three episodes this morning. Yeah. Ken's introduction feels just as rushed now as it was when I first saw it. I'm still not a fan, especially with how little time has passed since Gou's intro. For the character himself, Ken is alright. They play up his tendencies towards shirking responsibility to unreasonable levels. I get what they're aiming for, but they may have gone too far. Anyway, on to significant events. Other than the obvious new Gekiranger, the only other two occurred during the last episode. Mele obtains Dorinki after being forced to fight dirty when placed in choosing between getting the Sojuto or keeping her standards, and thus Rio now possesses the Geki treasure. While Rio's obtaining of Dorinki was rather forced, I quite liked Mele's. The mix of anger and self disappointment growing into a new power for her makes sense. |
Long is kind of a Magnificent Bastard. I like characters like that.

I like Long more than Gremlin.
Why? His design is better. Yes, I can be petty. That said, he doesn't do anything new in the "Villain lurking in the shadows" role. I find him more interesting to watch because he's not working every angle and somehow has everyone trusting and eating out of his hands. He's only really working with Mele, and guiding Rio. |

Although Ken's intro is a little rushed, storywise I can accept it.He was supposed to be the 4th Gekiranger, but Gou came out of nowhere and squeezed in to become part of the team.I really do like Ken,I feel like the team really needed the laid-back kinda guy.And Gekichopper's design is so cool, definitely need that in plastic.
I kinda feel Mele's sense of honor was a bit forced. It's a cool character trait to have but her job has been to create despair and pain among people.I don't understand why she suddenly has a problem with that now.Maybe I haven't seen traces of that throughout the whole series or I'm just missing something.I do like though that the breaking of her own morals does grant her DoRinki, much better than Rio just shouting and getting it. Continuing off of Den-O's point,I agree that Long for me so far feels like Gai from Ryuki.I forgot how much I hated Gai and I'm getting the same feeling from Long.Off topic preference, but I kinda prefer Gremlin over Long.I understand Long is working off of Mele's weakness to please Rio anyway possible, but I don't get why she's just blindly following every word he says. She has no idea who he is and really has no logical reason to trust him.I buy it more with Gremlin's situation since he's trusted because he knows something no one else seems to.But that's more for the Wizard Discussion.I just feel like he's done better than Long,so far anyway.Maybe later episodes will change my opinion. |
Well, you can see a hints of Mele's personal sense of honor during how she furthers her goals entirely. She's a character that can turn perfectly invisible, yet, take Braco as an example. Rather than try to use her prehensile tongue and perfect invisibility to beat him and take the Madoku, she chooses to call him out, and defeat him, plain and clear.
While her sense of honor hasn't been a major character trait of hers, it wasn't just needlessly shoehorned in. |

Guess I just didn't really interpret it as honor specifically.Even though I didn't catch on to the lead up to it,her getting DoRinki was still pretty good.Even though I didn't get what led up to it,the honor trait is still really cool for Mele to have.
I didn't think of a possibility that she could just take the Madoku from Braco.I just assumed she needed to beat him because it was the only way to obtain them. And also to show how strong she is for Rio. |
