Ultimate Ranger Team Tournament - Red Quarter-finals Round 1
 

Let’s play a game: The Gokaiger adaptation isn’t season two of Megaforce, it’s a brand new series with a brand old cast. The six Rangers are all returning characters from previous Ranger teams, gathered together to face off against the most powerful evil ever. But which six Rangers? That’s where this tournament comes in.

We’re going to cast this team with the very best Red Ranger, very best Pink Ranger, very best Blue Ranger, very best Yellow Ranger, very best Grack/Bleen Ranger, and very best Sixth Ranger.

The rules are simple: the Rangers of each color fight it out to see which one stands at the top of their personal section of the rainbow. The winners will be determined by popular vote, feel encouraged to explain your choices to help sway the undecided. Fights are all-out brawls – any power-up or weapon is permitted, short of the Zords.

Battles are decided by random selection and each character is represented for each of their colors (Rocky and TJ are in both Red and Blue, Tommy is in Red and Sixth, etc.). Rangers with multiple powers in the same color will be using the ones which are most unique to them (Adam is Zeo Green, Cassie is Space Pink, etc. – yes, this kinda shafts the Turbo Rangers, I know – all three Turbo fans are free to register their complaints). All major teams are represented, MMPR through Megaforce. Evil Rangers like the Psychos and A-Squad - as well as one-shot Rangers like Cat or SPD Red Bridge - are excluded.

After a bit of waffling I've decided to continue with the random pairings, which should give us some nice variety and provide for some exciting match-ups like...

Voting will last for 24 hours, even though we all know how this is going to end.

Will military technology overpower the ancient abilities of the Samurai? Will form spam beat the raw manliness of shooting things? Which Ranger will reign supreme?

Carter Grayson. Lightspeed Rescue. Red Ranger.

Those ain't lightsabers, so Jayden is gonna have a hell of a time blocking the stream of lasers.

Carter wins this handily. And not because of powers, or what might happen in the fight. But because of who you would want in that fight. Carter is the only one between them I would trust leading a team into a battle.

Plus he's much better looking. And that has to count for something.

You're not a fan of Jayden's Bieber cut? But it's so timeless. Ten years from now, that will not even slightly look dated.

No. I promise you, if you show Lightspeed Era Carter and Jayden to women, any woman, they'd choose Carter.

I'd give Jayden a pity vote… but it's Jayden.

Carter he's awesome and non of the lightspeed ranger had any doubts when he was leading the team. Even Ryan when he first joined trusted carter..And that's saying something since 6th rangers has a rusty past before officially joining the team.

Love Carter, and his leadership abilities is who I'd want leading the team. No offense to Jayden at all.

I think we can pull the trigger early. Jayden doesnt stand a chance in hell :lol

Jayden never seemed horrible to me, honestly the only reason I kept watching Samurai was because of him. I could see him win the fight against Carter as well, but I'll probably be a lone wolf here.

And with that, we have our Jayden vote.

I'm more surprised it's not a pity or counter vote, but an honest to goodness normal vote.

Honestly I have to go back and really watch Lightspeed, I was done with Power Rangers after Lost Galaxy. I only saw Carter in Forever Red which brought me back to Power Rangers for a bit but Ninja Storm is what really did it for me.

Carter. He'd just run Jayden over. :lol

Carter. Jayden certainly has skill, but I think Carter has the determination to win here.

I asked my friend. She chose Jayden on account of Carter being too old.

Wasn't a pity vote, but a legitimate one.

Carter clearly took this one, no contest. He'll be moving on.

The next round will be delayed for a few hours as I'm going to be out tonight until around 10pm, local time. I'll get the next match up ASAP after I get home.

The sad part is that if most of us just saw their stats/powerups alone, without a character attached to them, we would probably choose Jayden.

Luckily, that's not the case. :lol

Thats why I disregarded power this round :lol I voted solely based on who I'd trust to lead a team into battle. And I wouldn't trust Jayden to lead a marching band.

I wouldn't trust him to lead someone down a perfectly mundane 10' hallway.

I wouldn't trust him to lead himself anywhere.

(Okay, he wasn't that bad.)
