I'm curious on how many people in this forum play Card Games so post what kind of deck you use and such.


I play Yugioh and i use a Warrior Xyz's deck with Utopia as my main and i play Vanguard and use a Royal Palladin deck.

I'm also building a Mermaid deck for Vanguard with really cute mermaids.

I use to heavily be into Yugioh during high school, and I tried out Vanguard for a time. But in the end, I decided to get out of the whole collectable card game thing while the going was good…this shit gets expensive after awhile.

Huh. What a coincidence. I just got back into Magic via Return to Ravnica and have reformed a Red-Black Rakdos Aggro deck. Magic at least seems to be a lot more cheaper than Yu-Gi-Oh and Vanguard.

Well, I love me some "children's card games".

In Yu-Gi-Oh. I am quite fond of my Ancient Gears.

As for Magic the Gathering. I have about seven different decks. But, my four favourite decks are:

Artifact Deck: This deck, obviously is made of Artifacts. It also blends in lands of various colour, that allow for other colours to be used. (Are you surprised of my Mecha-Fetish?)

Miller's Wife: A Mono-Blue deck, that focuses on milling. Because, y'know... Blue, mind.

Army of Darkness: A Black and White Deck. It uses white to generate tokens, and black to eat these tokens to due poison damage.

Hell: Basic Black/Red Damage deck, which is mainly built of Goblins, and Return to Ravnica merch.

I used to play all sorts of card games, but I've dropped them.

I mained an Insect Deck in YGO, and later on built Naturia and Watt decks before dropping it because I got tired of the same strategies being the only things that win, having no interest in building counters.

For Magic, I primarily used mono-Green, and later briefly used a Green-Red deck, but dropped MTG around the time Jace came into prominence.

I have an inzektor deck but a) Im to lazy to update it (thanks banlist for limiting dragonfly who at this point is nowhere near as broken as dragon rulers) and b) i havent been able to go anywhere to play. At this point im just using dueling network to play test any ideas i have, and i cant wait for the ghostrick cards to be usable there.

Inzektors were so boringly broken I couldn't bring myself to use them.

My cousin convinced me to build a Dueling Network account, and even then, I pick intentionally weak archetypes because I like potential, challenge, and variety, rather than getting the confirmed win.

In other words, I don't play to win.

Meanwhile, my cousin is desperately trying to met me into Vanguard, but that's not happening.

I still keep my decks for memories. Not sure if they have any value to sell, especially when Yu-Gi-Oh! is in question. My biggest regret was starting YGO with Upper Deck stuff which due to whatever legal reasons meant I couldn't play in any local Asian tournaments because they deemed UDE cards illegal and only Konami Japanese or Asian English cards were permitted.

I "graduated" to Magic while I was serving my two years mandatory Military service. I think it was around the Alara block where I started with an Bant Exalted deck, then played a Monored Goblin Aggro deck. I dropped it post Worldwake after leaving the Army but from time to time when I have the time I attend a couple of pre-releases to play some draft games and hopefully score some nice cards (I almost never do).

Never have been a "competitive" deck builder. Sure I do build decks with the intention of winning but nothing so techy that it becomes mundane. I like originality, which is sorely lacking whenever card players go "pro".

I didn't think people in the Military played Card games.

I was a Medic. We had free time. Oh. And when your serving mandatory Military service you'll do anything to pass the time. Magic was one outlet. Monster Hunter was another.

That said, I remember why I got into Magic at the time. I believe it was the Planeswalker concept. I saw a promo art of Chandra Nalaar and I totally fell in love. Never mind that she never has had a decent set of abilities. I loved the card art. I own almost every version of Chandra there is, including "anime" Chandra. Hopefully I score the new one when M14 comes out.

My only "money" Planeswalker that I ever pulled was Elspeth, Knight-Errant. My buddy in the army on the other hand has this insane gift of pulling Planeswalkers with ease. I've witnessed firsthand him pulling a Nissa Revane, Sorin Markov, Jace the Mind Sculptor, Elspeth Tirel and Koth of the Hammer. Mind Sculptor goes for big money these days. New Black Lotus? Dunno. I'm not THAT deep into MTG lore.

How many versions of Chandra are there exactly?

Lets see....Not counting Core Set reprints....:

- Chandra Nalaar (Lorwyn)
- Chandra Ablaze (Zendikar)
- Chandra The Firebrand (M12)

I have three versions of Nalaar. The M10 reprint and two Duel Deck Foils, one is from the US Jace vs Chandra set, and the other was from the Japanese "Anime" Jace vs Chandra set. Split both set with my fellow Magic playing Medic.

Huh, i didn't think they had Magic in Japan.

Some of the best Pro Magic players are Japanese. And here's another fun fact. Rare cards? Expensive. Same rare cards but in Japanese text? Ridiculously expensive.

Now i'm curious on how expensive the first Charizard card is in japanese.

Japan is ga-ga over card games. What made you think MTG wouldn't be over there?

Card rarity is different for US and Japan. I don't think the original Charizard is worth much unless it's a grade 9 or 10.

But Charizard is worth like 1000 bucks.

I used to play yu-gi-oh but found it got boring/expensive, so I just occasionally go to duelling network if I feel in the mood.

I had a short time playing the Pokemon TCG but traded my deck and the rest of my cards away for more yugioh stuff. I also had a couple of Duel Masters decks which I never got to finish. Which were an Aura Pegasus deck and I've forgotten what the other was. I think it was a fire/darkness deck.

I traded away all my Yugioh stuff so I could start Vanguard. I have a few decks
Royal Paladin
Kagerō
Angel Feather
Pale moon (My favourite deck at the moment)
Spike Brothers
Granblue (because zombie pirates are awesome)
Murakumo (because Ninjas)
I've also got Musketeers, Dimensional Robo and Aqua Force but they're not finished yet.

Through a strict set of conditions, yes, Charizard can reach that much. But simply being the original Charizard isn't an automatic goldmine.

Anyway, that reminds me, I did have some Pokemon decks. One based on Beedrill, and one based on Magneton.

Duel Network can be fun, but more often enough, it pisses me the hell off. Just due to the number of trolls, assholes, and people who just don't know the god damned rulings.

Yeah. I pretty much exclusively use the Dueling Network when my cousin wants to playtest a deck he made in real life (Since we live in different states), or for the 2 other friends I have who occasionally want to play me in YGO when they have nothing else to do.

Give YGO Pro a try, since that's at least automatic unlike duel network.

I think i made an account there but i never used it.

I'm not a super big YGO player anymore, though.

For example, when I play against my cousin or friends on Dueling Network, I run one of 4 decks.

Like I said, I intentionally picked inferior deck archetypes not so that I'm a challenge, but so that I have more fun :p

I'm trying to decide whenever or not i spend my graduation money on Banquet of Divas packs so i can finish my Mermaid deck or save it for when Animal Crossing 3D comes out. :/

I used to be a big yugioh card fan, but I lived in Asia and the packs were ultra cheap (for rip offs, I think). I've never battled competively before. Oh, and my first card was a TADPOLE. For the win!

I got another Banquet of Divas pack so i'm up to 30 cards for my Mermaid deck, i thought i'd bring up a problem i have with this game.

Two words:Trigger Cards. They may be fun to use but in Boosters they're a bitch to find, there's only about 1 per pack and the number you need for a deck is 17. Sometimes they bring two but that only happened once to me, Lady luck is never on my side.

Incidentally, next month is MTG's big Modern Masters release which is the reprint of classic cards with updated art and card designs. Its lauded as WOTC's most expensive set yet. Me, I'm not so deep into MTG lore so its an easy enough pass for me.

Not sure if this would go here, but to all Star Trek fans or just general fans of these sorts of games, the new Star Trek Rivals card game for iOS is pretty darn good. It's a freemium, so it's pretty hard to get good cards, unfortunately, but I managed to get some of the top cards so playing it free is still very manageable.

It's basically a great game to play at various intervals during the day. Quick and not at all time-consuming, like mobile games should be.

I just found a misprint among my Vanguard cards. XD A card named Mermaid Idol Sedna doesn't have a 1 where it should be on the critical mark, there's nothing there.

Bushiroad the company that made Vanguard is making a new card game called Buddyfight to be released in 2014. It seems to be Vanguard but marketed towards 9 year olds.
