Akibaranger Season 2 Episode 9 "Delusional Fantasy" Discussion
 

Watched the raw last night and all I can say is "BOY!".

According to Hikasa P on twitter, Akumaro (from Shinkenger) was supposed to be one of the 3 villians summoned by Malshina in episode 9.
Because the suit never returned from New Zealand they had to replace it with someone else (possibly Yami no Yaiba).

Great episode, but probably the third weakest of the season thus far. Malshina being a copy of Wolzard was hilarious, but boy is she going to be pissed when she gets her memory back. I do have to wonder though, is Pain a delusion himself though and he is actually the dude in the hospital.

So General Two is a dentist :lol

Bio Robo theme!!

Man the General's plan this episode was damn brilliant! Absolutely the kind of wacky awesome I come to expect from this show. The return of the infamous akiba poles and pylon was welcome. I loved the hijacking of the penultimate powers and the subsequent villains that were summoned. Matrixbeast must be getting a kick out of the Gekiranger love 2 episodes in a row.

Itasha Boy however is ridiculously disappointing. I can't believe they took the easy way out and didn't design a new robo at all :( I mean it was a funny scene but I really wanted them to design a whole new robo to go with Itasha this season.

As for the man in the bed I'm theorizing that it's Hate Saburo and he's in some delusional coma or something dreaming up Season 2.

Dental Technician

Close enough. Dentists, and those who work for them cause pain, so does he :lol

I cannot express how in love with this show I am. Something about it feels more official then official Sentai, in just how real the show is.

As a comedy it is a winner, as it does have very Totaku elements that make it a success.

However, as a drama... there is something about it, that just makes me have all theses feelings especially for this season.


... I don't want it to go away. It is in a way my new best friend, and what is sad... is it is a one of a kind friend that well... after this new season is moving away for good. Sure i'll have "Fond memories of the good ol' days' But... I have such an attachment to this show. It is just... Smart.

I hope in the future we get more Adult Sentai like this. The Totaku in me is pleased by it.

Great episode :lol I thought Itasha Boy was fantastic, and it also means that there won't be another expensive robot toy I can't afford coming :p

I think what I'm enjoying about this series most of all is just how different it feels to the the first. Sure it has the same characters and similar themes, but its gone off in such a direction that half the time I don't feel like I'm watching a second season at all.

But I wanted another expensive toy to wave in front of all of your faces :lol

And actually I could see them making a scaled down Itasha Boy figure. A simplified like deluxe transformer sized figure.

Is this really it. No season 3? No more references or cameos? :(

They were having trouble to get the cast and staff together to film a "proper" episode, as said on twitter.
There might be a season 3, but in a different format.

I can deal with that, it won't be super expensive :p
I'd love a scaled one to go with one of the Figuarts too.

I kinda wished Itasha Boy was a new robo too, but I can live with it. The one we got reminded me of Gotcha Force, which is never a bad thing.

"Akiba drill" is possibly one of the biggest laughs I've ever gotten out of the whole Akibaranger experience. :lol

Why is proper in quotes?

So does this mean we'll be getting more villain S.H.Figuarts?

Random thoughts:
I really want someone to write those scripts up. Especially the Marriage!
He blew up the Itasha Robo. The B*****D!!!!!!
Itasha Boy is awesome, but it'll never replace the original.

Man this episode was such a blast. General Pain's plan was cool, Wolzard programed Malshina was great, the choice of villians summoned was excellent and Itasha Boy stole the show.

God dammit Saban, you ruined the perfect chance at a meta reference since Akumaro was voiced by the person who is playing General Pain.

So Saban is, in some weird, roundabout way, making Super Sentai slightly worse?
