Future Super Sentai Motifs
 

What motifs would you like to see in a future Super Sentai title? Or what previous motifs would you like the franchise to revisit?

Well we've done ninjas a few times, adventurers, samurai, spies, pirates, dinosaurs several times, cars more than once, and angels even. I think at this point we might be down to garbage collectors and telemarketers :lol

In all seriousness something like space explorers ala Star Trek would be kind of cool.

I second Den-O's space explorers.

For me, the three top motifs I want to see are Wild West (Cowboys), Medieval Fantasy Knights (a bit of that in Magiranger), and an Aquatic-based Sentai.

I want Dragons.

Red Dragon-Fire
Blue Dragon- Water
green dragon-Earth
Yellow Dragon-Lightning
Pink Dragon- Luck or flowers

Have the Rangers be the reincarnated spirits of the 5 greatest dragons from their elements. They would be fighting the Black Dragons. The dragon group that turned towards the powers of death and necromancy.

I'd like to see a future Super Sentai series with an international martial arts motif (unlike other martial arts-based titles, which were limited to Asian martial arts) and perhaps a world nations theme like Battle Fever J, only without the dancing. I don't have names for the characters yet, but I've pinpointed the colors and characteristics:

Red - Japan - Shotokan Karate
Blue - Israel - Krav Maga
Green - Brazil - Capoeira
Yellow - Europe - Savate
White - South Korea - Taekwondo
Silver - USA - Jeet Kune Do

This will never happen, but what I'd like to see is a military team motif. When the heat is on and regular soldiers can't get the upper hand in the fight against a terrorist cell, for example, The country sends in this super team.

It would make for a very realistic show. Contemporary technology, etc. Then the team would 'morph' for lack of a better word into better armed soldiers. Think Captain Power and the Soldier of the Future armor suits, but a lot less cheesy. Those old enough will understand :)

The mecha would simply be army vehicles (some ground and some air-based) and would combine together to form you guessed it, a giant robot. Similar to the Combaticons from the Transformers.

Design wise, they'd each have they own color of course, but not fully colored. Only hints of the color on the armor suits. The only thing that comes to mind that's been done which ressembles this design idea are the suits for the A-Squad in Power Rangers SPD. This design pattern also goes for the vehicles. I don't want no bright red tank or pink recon drone.

I hope you guys get my idea. In my mind it would make for a kick ass show. Too bad it won't ever get made ;)


Edit: Um...yeah, what the heck would they fight in that mech? I have absolutely no idea, lol.

i Came up with a demon based sentai awhile back called Demon Sentai Oniranger, i would like to see somthing like that.

My son came up with Lollipop Rangers, they henshin by sucking on a ring pop :lol

Cowboys. I want a Wild West Sentai team so badly :lol They'd be extra awesome if one (or all) had a hat shape moulded into the helmet and spurs on the boots that could be used as weapons.

As much as I'm loving the look of GoBuster, I was really disappointed when those rumours about the next team being cowboy themed turned out to be false.

There's so much perversion potential in that....

Insects and arachnids. Because appearntly that's been one of the rumored ones for the longest time next to pirates, and I think bugs are awesome. That and we'd have Bugmens in Super Sentai :lol.

Not to a little kid, and imagine how much candy Bandai would sell :lol

I'd like to see a Sentai team that works as a military unit again - like Changeman or Ohranger. It's an interesting approach to a Sentai team that we haven't seen for a long time.

- ESPer sentai that homages X-men, Teen Titans, and 21 Jump st. to an extent where they go undercover in a school suspected of being a front for an evil ESP group
- Like what ZeoRangerV said, Cowboy sentai would be good. Say they are space bounty hunters who come to earth to hunt down outlaws. And yes, they will be street vendors that sell burgers who secretly fight crime while leaving their clueless part-time worker to do the rest during fights.
- Medical-themed sentai where they use hi-tech medical gear to fight "evil" overgrown viruses
- Medieval sentai based off heraldic creatures(the animals on coat of arms)

I want to see the return of an evil Sentai team, like the NejiRangers (from Megaranger). They could be based on the negative traits of humanity (not sins, but personality traits)
Red = Anger / Hatred
Green = Greed (must have all the things)
Violet = Ambition (must win at all costs)
Pink = Pleasure
Yellow = Pain (live to enjoy the suffering of others)

I was thinking something like that but slightly different:

Red - Boxing
Blue - Lucha Libre wrestling
Yellow - Shaolin Kung-Fu
Black - Kendo
White - Taekwondo

Green - MMA

They've already done it a couple times with vehicles, but it'd be nice to see animal mecha that have their own robot modes. And then also combine. Or do like they did with the Time Force Megazord and have two distinct megazord modes. Just something different. Maybe even a return to a Shogun Megazord type design. With five humanoid mechs that become one larger one.

Just give me a Western/cowboy-themed Sentai and I'm set.

I like you name sir and if we get western then they have to have the string thingys on thier gloves

And there has to be a horse vehicle/mecha/zord somewhere. And some kind of armored wagon.

They could also take some pointers from Wolzard's mecha in Magiranger. That was a great execution of the horse-rider concept.

How about Trains? Or knights?

Nothing tops the Grand Liner on trains

I'd love some sort of militaristic thing, where the core team is just the five or so elite of a crew of tons of generic soldiers. It could make for some really cool battle scenes, although the characters would probably have to be pretty disciplined for it to work out.

I think a great team would be one based on the planets.

Sun - Megazord
Moon - Megazord
Uranus - Third Megazord used simply to combine and give more powers to the other two

Rangers are based on Mars, Earth, Saturn, Mercury, Jupiter

Two extra Rangers based on Neptune and yes, Pluto. (so a female and male).

An evil (or neutral) Ranger based on either Planet X (rumored planet that enters our solar system once every xxxx years) or a Black Hole.

I also had this idea of a Super Sentai called Mori Sentai Parkranger, which uses a forest animal motif. The team is five people plus a sixth member who is a female in her 40s.

Let's brainstorm new ideas for Sentai series!
 

With Go-Buster going on right now but being overshadowed by the superior Akibaranger, I got to thinking maybe there needs to be some new ideas to use for Ranger motifs. One idea that I think might work is a all-naval team with sea and ocean-based weapons, vehicles and outfits that also work as diving suits. They could have a battleship as their base and the villains could have a aircraft carrier as their base of operations. The monsters can be based on various ocean themes(mythology,technology, natural,etc).

Bugs! I know Bugs are typically associated with Kamen Rider.But they seem to have moved away from that look minus the eyes.

This idea isn't so much for plot basis , but i could stand to see a Red Spider , Blue Beetle ( yeah, i know it just rolls off the tongue ) Green Grasshopper , Pink Butterfly & Yellow Moth. Go-Busters has it a little of that going on right now but bugs could make for some cool suits & Mechs.

Even since I saw Big Bad Beetleborgs I wanted to see a combined robot made with bug vehicles. We had dinosaurs a few times, let the bugs have their turn in the sun.

I just came up with an (Admittedly poorly written) Sentai concept a couple days back, posted it in the Fanfic section.
It was Horror themed ^^

Anyway, for a bug sentai, they would need to AVOID the kabuto and stag beetles.
