Let's Watch Wednesdays Returns with Ultraman Nexus!
1 Attachment(s)
Tokunation's weekly segment Let's Watch Wednesdays has returned from the great beyond of last week! Having finished our last segment we're starting up our newest adventure today with Ultraman Nexus!
We begin this segment however not with the Nexus TV series but with the film which serves as a prequel to the series, Ultraman: The Next! The film itself was released midway through Nexus' TV run, but it actually takes place 5 years before Nexus began. Following the exploits of Ultraman Next, this film was created as part of the Ultra N Project along with Ultraman Noa to revitalize the Ultra franchise. Join Tokunation in our communities first joint trip to the Land of Light and be sure to check out our weekly discussion thread located here. And next week we begin watching 3 episode segments of Ultraman Nexus as well! If you're in need of The Next file, Tokunation staff member Baltan II has been kind enough to host a copy for us all HERE & the Sub file HERE. Torrents for this film are either completely dead or non-existant. So let's watch Ultraman Nexus, this week featuring Ultraman The Next! |
Unless you'd like to watch the movie in Japanese raw, I'd also suggest downloading the subtitle file here as well. :p
By default, both files share the same name, so playing the AVI with the SRT in the same location should be sufficient for most players. If you rename your movie file, ensure you rename the SRT as well. Ultraman: The Next is also that rare toku film that comes with English subtitles on the DVD itself. If you can afford to do so and have a region-free player or other means of playing an R2 DVD, consider tracking down a copy of the official release. I'll be back once I actually rewatch the film for myself! |
Why does mine have double subtitles? A small set of them in the background and them immediately in front of them in the foreground is another set of subs :lol
|
I still can't believe Ultraman Nexus won! What a surprising victory!
I'll download it as soon as I get home tonight. I haven't watched an Ultraman show since nearly two decades ago, so it'll be very exciting! Thanks for the link Baltan II. Where can we get the rest of the subbed series? |
What the heck I'll give it a shot.
|
How is The Next a prequel? I own the R2 and watched the first few episodes of Nexus and I don't recall there ever being a connection.
With that said, enjoy the show to those that are going to participate in LWW, I'm sitting this one out. Ultraman is just not my thing no matter how many times I try to watch a series. |

Are you seeing either subtitle track if you delete your SRT? Maybe the track really is there but I can't see or access it with whatever codec setup I have compared to yours. If you're not, I think there's something on your end applying the subtitles twice. Quote:

I figured it out. I tried deleting the SRT and going that route which left me with nothing. But if I go into my DirectVobSub in the system tray and check "hide subtitles" it hides the set in the foreground. Still have no clue why they're there in the first place but, oh well :p

Whatever version of Nexus everybody downloads, either from TV-Nihon or the Ultraman-Nexus.com ones I've uploaded so far, they're all hardsubs, so none of this will be an issue after we get through The Next. :lol Quote:

So I'm apparently not seeding the U-N Nexus batch. I left my laptop going all day while I was at work to knock the batch out and seed it for the rest of the day after. Unfortunately I've timed out at just over 90% :(

Both TV-Nihon and Ultraman-Nexus.com subbed Episode EX. Ultraman-Nexus.com definitely did the director's cut 29 as well, but I'm not sure whether or not TV-Nihon did. |

Heads up guys that I am now seeding the U-N batch of Nexus. It finished torrenting while I was at work today so it'll be up for the foreseeable future. Hopefully it's enough to help a few people get the episodes they need.
|
I have yet to watch Next or Nexus. Is it better to watch the prequel first, before diving into the series, or start the series first, and view the prequel later?
|
As the discussion has now moved on to the first three episodes of Nexus, you might prefer to watch the first three episodes, but at some point you will want to backtrack and watch The Next. It's up to you how soon you want that to be.
