I get the sense from this that JDF has never seen any Power Rangers beyond Mighty Morphin, I know that he has no obligation to but then stop saying 'the franchise' as if you're speaking about something collectively when you don't seem to know about anything outside of the seasons you've starred in.

I love JDF don't get me wrong, I love how great he is to his fans, but I hate how this twenty years of Power Rangers is more just one long nostalgiawank for Mighty Morphin, may as well call it Twenty Year MMPR Anniversary.

So much great stuff came out after MMPR, MMPR is probably one of, if not the worst, season of the show and a terrible representation of all the great things this franchise as achieved. It's buried itself under nostalgia.

I never know how to react when everybody gets pissy about nostalgic MMPR fans. I am one of those people but I am well aware that it is far from being the best written or acted, nor will I argue that it was the best. The show holds a very special place in my heart and still holds an incredible amount of cheese and charm.

I guess you had to be there...

Being punched by the Green Ranger is one of the greatest achievements one can aspire to.

Jdf should have had something red in that outfit, he's got hi's other colors on there.

That's actually a good point.

It was a the most popular thing with young boys for a time. Seasons after MMPR really can't make that claim. Plus, MMPR is what is turning 20, not the later seasons, so it makes sense it is getting the biggest push. When Star Wars has an anniversary people tend to focus on remembering the oldest stuff first. Just the way it is.

In Space and Time Force respectfully disagree.

Where there toys impossible to get? Did parents wait outside TRU every morning to try and get them for Christmas? That's the stuff I'm talking about. Keep in mind MMPR has the advantage of being daily instead of weekly. So many new episodes and all the other kids would talk about it every day at school. Hard for other seasons to compete when they on last a year and are around 40 episodes. And back then few had cable so the choices for kids shows were much more limited. Just like TV shows in general no longer get as high of ratings because it's spread out. I once read that a third airing of a popular Seinfeld episode had more viewers than the CW gets in a whole week.

This attitude sums up the problem.

Don't forget RPM. I still haven't gotten over how awesome that season was

Oh there are worse seasons, and those equally as bad, but I hate how Power Rangers has a certain stigma around it. A stigma that later seasons tried to prove wrong or at least pull themselves above or away from but rather than shouting those from the rooftops, they continue to circle jerk MMPR which only confirms and fortifies the stigma.

It's nostalgic for all of us, part of all of our childhoods and for most of us it's the reason we are here now but that doesn't mean we should put it ahead of later seasons, that had actual stories, characters or whatever else.

What could possibly be worse than Overdrive?

RPM was awesome, but it underpreformed.

I couldn't agree more. We got some great shows after MMPR finished and the fact that all this great history is being ignored because of said nostalgia is disheartening. It's almost like the Transformers fandom sadly enough.

It's not an attitude man, it's facts. The reason why MMPR is getting the push is because it is the one celebrating 20 years and it effected more kids than the other individual seasons did on their own. Plus the story and characters continued on past MMPR into Zeo and Turbo. I was a young kid at the time and I can tell you personally that not even Zeo had the same craze going for it. And like I said as time goes on TV shows have smaller audeinces because there are more of them on to watch but I guess you didn't read that post.

No where in there did I say that thought MMPR was the best. It's pretty much unwatchable now unless you are laughing at it or getting nostalgic over certain episodes. That isn't the point. The point is that these companies are interested in marketing what will get them the most money. They've done the research and they know MMPR casts a wide net for them. I would be hard to sell Time Force or RPM as a flagship to the suits that make the decisions about what to push. The world at large doesn't view things the same way fans do.

I wish the better seasons got more attention and maybe they will one day when it's been 20 or 25 years for them. I sadly doubt it but we can hope.

Err... no, it is celebrating twenty years of the franchise, not twenty years of MMPR, that is the problem here. Hence my saying that you are permeating the attitude that is causing all the problems.

MMPR isn't the most important series in the franchise, it's just the most nostalgic for our generation. There are millions of kids out there who grew up with other seasons and don't care about MMPR but it seems we're blinded by our own nostalgia which inflates our own sense of importance.
