Beetleborgs Metallix Vol. 2 - Shout Factory Needs Our Help
1 Attachment(s)
Shout factory, the awesome company responsible for bringing classics like Power Rangers, Ultra Q, VR Troopers, Ultra Seven, Beetleborgs, and even the Japanese Transformers Trilogy to DVD needs our help! Right now they're one volume away from finishing off all of our Big Bad Beetleborgs collections!
Season 1 volume 1 & 2 as well as Metallix Volume 1 have been released already. However the release of Metallix Part 2 is in jeopardy! Mr. Yellow has let us know that sales numbers need to climb for the previously released Beetleborgs sets before the final installment can actually happen. So Shout Factory is asking the collective tokusatsu community to help this final volume see the light of day! If you haven't picked up the previous releases yet, then head on over to the Shout website and get a dose of pure 90's! Big Bad Beetleborgs Season 1 Volume 1 on DVD Big Bad Beetleborgs Season 1 Volume 2 on DVD Beetleborgs Metallix: Season 2 Volume 1 on DVD Let's make that last volume happen! |
Thanks for posting this! It'd be a shame for that one volume to not get released...

I do hope the remainder gets released.
|
This will bode well for other tokusatsu releases too.
Be sure to buy Ultra Q and Q: The Winged Serpent. |
As much as I'd love to support these releases, I can't justify buying a physical copy when these are available through the Netflix subscription I'm already paying for. This just seems like a sales ploy to me..."we've already released 3/4ths of the episodes, but we're not going to make the last set unless you guys go out and buy lots of DVDs."

You don't release the 3rd set if the 2nd set didn't sell and the 1st set underperformed. It's not a sales ploy. It's just...Accounting. |

Why. I have them on Netflix :eyebrow

Not to mention Netflix has already announced that it intends on downsizing some of it's available streaming programs. |
I heard people say these are bad series, are they? Because I might want to jump into other Toku series and Metal series seems like a good start.
|
Yeah, sorry, I don't play these games. Nothing against Shout, but my buying Conan The Adventurer Volumes 1-3 did not get the rest of the series released. And it took Disney 7 years to release Gargoyles S2V2 even though I bought S2V1 and there were still restrictions to buy V2.

Even though I hated Beetleborgs, I hate the idea of it being lost forever even more. Plus, if they can't get satisfying sales for this then the missing Saban shows like Masked Rider & Mystic Knights don't have a chance. |
I know I watched this show growing up. That said, my memory of it has all but faded away. Wasn't aware that any of it had been released on DVD. It's a show I would definitely consider getting. Maybe not till later this year, but...
Anyways, the links in the first post just lead me to blank pages...this happening to anyone else? |
I have to say that the amount of complaints over something like this are disappointing. Shout is trying to do fans a favor by giving us this heads up. If sales numbers can't get higher on the previously released sets then the last volume WILL NOT HAPPEN.
This isn't like Mattel using the scare tactic of cancelling an entire toyline to try and get people to buy more subscriptions. This is a very real situation where that final volume may not be able to happen due to low sales. If there isn't a demonstrated demand by fans to own the currently released volumes then they can't produce a 4th volume that will fail to meet minimum sales numbers. |
Time to stop blaming Shout. They didn't put out a call, we the fans did. We noticed the final volume wasn't scheduled anytime soon and asked. They said the last couple of volumes didn't sell well enough. Netflix won't last forever, and once that's gone we're left with incomplete DVDs and crappy encodes. Not to mention that the quality of Netflix varies depending on your internet strength. IMO a physical media copy will trump streaming any day.
Any notion that this is a "sales ploy" by Shout is preposterous to say the least. If so, then it must be a conspiracy by other companies/studios as well. It's simply a bigger deal with Shout because, believe it or not, they're still an indie, relatively small company. Imagine trying to convince Disney to release even a "Best of Beetleborgs" DVD. Nope. |
On my 360 atm, and the links are working for me. I'll have to check them on my computer later. Anyways, the price for the volumes is reasonable. Which isn't surprising. I'll get the sets later this year. I would get them now, but I don't have the extra cash atm. Would be nice for the last volume to be made, but even if it doesn't, I imagine these will still be worth owning.
Edit: On my computer now, and they are working. |
