Anybody going to Otakon in Baltimore next month? It's my first year going , i was wondering what to expect toku wise.

Well Jason David Frank will be at Mechacon in New Orleans in a few months so I can't wait.

I'm going to Amecon in the summer, which probably won't be half as good as these US cons :lol

Goes and googles Amecon... Okay I might have to go =p Do they have stands that sell figuarts/sentai/kamen rider merch?

Sadly not :( seeing anything figuarts related that isn't One Piece or DBZ is pretty much a rarity. I've seen a few SICs in the past but that's about it. No dealer seems to be interested in selling them :(

Which is a shame, because both Ame and Aya (they take it in turn each year) see quite a bit of toku cosplay.

Well that sucks a little, still sounds like fun though. And I guess there's always a small sliver of hope that someone's decided to stock them =]

Yeah, given that at last year's con Goseiger, Gokaiger and OOO all got screenings its definitely getting more attention over here :)

AM2Con Toku cosplayers

AM2Con was my first "nerdy" con, and overall, I had a fun time, bought a Figuarts Fourze and Machine Massigler, among other things

funny story involving the Gentarou one, I went up to him, and asked him "can I get a picture?" and he was like "what, me?" I was like "yeah you" then he told me " ok what states do you want me in, I can do pretty much any of them" I told him Fire, then him and I talked about how expensive the one Fourze driver in the dealer room was, and the Phillip and Shotaro ones were the people doing the one toku panel there was (I have now seen the horror of Den-O X Shin Chan) and I added Kotetsu from Tiger and Bunny as a bonus

I went to the Baltimore comic con on Saturday. I've been out of the American superhero game for a year now with my interest slipping away more and more. I went with a buddy and stood in an elevator with a battle Japan cosplay. Guy wasn't very friendly when I complimented him , but what can you do? ...I looked and looked and couldn't find a damn thing rider or sentai. Came out with an artist print of Dexter from the showtime series. Toku has taken over what once ruled my nerdom.

I know what you mean! I used to only collect Transformers. Nothing more nothing less. Then I found myself wanting more than just that. I then branched on to Power Rangers/Super Sentai to get my fix. Then that started to wane and I got into Kamen Rider and I'm hooked. I now own 9 out of the 14 Hesei era Rider belts, 19 Rider S.H. Figuarts, 12 SIC KT's and all but one of the Fourze foodroids. As for conventions, I've never had much luck finding Toku stuff other than Godzilla and the occasional Sentai/Power Ranger item. Sadly Kamen Rider is just not that popular in the US. I've gone to the Dallas Comic Con, Sci Fi Expo, Fan Days and other local shows and have never found a single Kamen Rider item. I think I would have more luck at A-Kon or AnimeFest but I don't know if I would go to either of those.

I'm sort of glad to hear this, I was considering driving out to that con but decided against it ultimately.

I'll definitely go to Otakon next year though.

Any other worthwhile mid-atlantic cons that have a Toku presence?

I would love to, but between school and the fact that it's Los Angeles...I can't

The New York comic con is happening oct 11th and it's supposed to have a major anime presence there. I've looked up the retailers That signed up and this seems to confirm that. If nothing else , I know image anime sells a good amount of Toku stuff and they will be there.

It makes me sad that the con season is over in my area. Con withdrawal sucks big time

The next big show won't be till March.:(

Can't make NYCC unfortunately, my cousin's getting married that weekend.

Was wondering if Nekocon in Hampton Roads, VA was any good for this kind of stuff, or Anime USA and Katsucon in/near DC.

Okay, so I can confirm that tomorrow (9/16) I will be at Comikaze in Los Angeles with my OOO driver and Double Fedora. If you see me, let me know! It'll be great to see a fellow Toku fan!

I just read that Jason David Frank will be a new York comic con. I am excited about this. Hope I can get him to sign under my ranger tattoo. Really looking forward to it. I have a wish list ( SHF bouken red , red buster , female shinkenger red , SRC daizyujin ) hope I find everything. Come on oct 13th

Sitting at the bus stop, leaving nycc. Dear god I have never been around this many people in my life. I was getting incredibly claustrophobic. On the plus side. Like 7 people freaked out over my Ooo tattoo , I met sentai tamashii ( real good dude ) , got a bunch of Toku goodies to be shown off later. Oh and the hot female kiva cosplayer was a bonus!

Met Kamen Rider Meteor and Barricade64, totally awesome guys, had a great time just shooting the breeze with them, though I wish I had more time to chat with them, Saturday at NYCC was simply insane!

I am just glad i wasn't a bother to you, i know you were trying to work over there.

I'm going to Long Beach Comic and Horror Con on Sunday! And guess who's gonna be there! Jason Faunt and Steven Skyler again! This time, I will have Steven hold the Shinken Gold Key! Should I have him sign it? And also, the actress who plays Emily/Samurai Yellow!

Nice. Where would you have him sign it? The only good surface I can think of is the key head with the logo. I would say yes.

I was thinking in between the legs of the key with a silver sharpie lol
