In a recent press release, Saban has announced that for better or for worse they’ll be continuing their successful current partnership with Nickelodeon into 2016.
The President of Saban Brands Elie Dekl had this to say about the continued partnership: Quote:

Wonderful. So more seasons that take two years, split up by nine episodes at a time, and more falling behind Super Sentai. *Throws papers up* Done. I love Power Rangers, I'll always love Power Rangers, but this just frustrates the bejesus out of me.

I'm so excited.

Why, Mister Saban, Why in the name of Gosei did you buy your own damn network. Why did you purcahse 4Kids.Tv... Just to keep airing your shows on Nick?! What kind of backward math are you using?!

I think I'd be able to tolerate the intentional hammy acting, the "Super" series, and such if it wasn't being cut up and divided into episode chunks with breaks that last months at a time.
That's the kiss of death that kills my interest in keeping up with the series. Kind of hard to keep caring when, after 9 episodes, I have to wait 4 months just to watch episode 10. |
I've been a hardcore fan of Power Rangers since Day 1, no way in hell I will EVER stop being one of their biggest fans.
|
"annoyed groan"
I feel two ways about this. Nick will treat the series better than Disney ever will, but their marketing towards it is painful at best and madding at it worse. I'll be happy with PR being with the lesser of two evils at least until 2016 unless something changes, but man alive it's a real bitter pill to swallow. |
... I was really hoping a awesome Go-busters adaptations, but I fear it's not going to be as awesome now if it's still going to be airing on nick.
|
So Power Rangers is sticking with Nick My God, good luck trying to promote it will Nick cause they won't as you see with Megaforce
|
Dissapointing but completely expected.
Whatever... |

This is, without a doubt, a double-edged sword.
On the one hand, you have Power Rangers continuing to have a single series be broken in to two seasons spread out over two years. One would believe that this would allow the creators more time to produce a better product - but as we've seen with Megaforce, we're still getting copy/paste translations and an overall "dull" show. We've also seen that Nickelodeon handcuffs Saban Brands in terms of what Saban Brands wants to do - so we have Goseiger suits which transform in to Gokaiger suits which transform in to every past suit because there was no way to celebrate the 20th Anniversary using Gokaiger footage without sacrificing half of the Goseiger footage due to Nick's scheduling format. On the plus side, Power Rangers is still getting focus and attention from Nickelodeon. Now the #1 kids network on television, having Power Rangers on the show during the Saturday morning popular shows can only help and benefit the franchise and brand name recognition with kids and parents. Look at Transformers as my example here. For years, Hasbro signed agreements with Cartoon Network. We had Transformers Armada, Transformers Energon, Transformers Cybertron, and Transformers Animated all airing on Cartoon Network, and Transformers saw a surge in popularity and toy sales. When Hasbro decided to take 100% control of their media and created "The Hub", you saw a dramatic dip in toy sales and television ratings. Sure, the show won an Emmy, but you have to have anything more than "basic cable" if you want to watch it. Sometimes, you go with the unpopular format with the fans (see: Nickelodeon, or Cartoon Network) in order to keep the brand going without hurting sales and ratings with kids. I was more shocked that Bandai had an extension - I almost thought for sure that was shoe-horned in with the TOEI license. Interesting. So the future of Power Rangers is questionable after the GoBusters adaption. Good to know. |
So... who wants to help me create a cable channel that'll become successful in three years? :lol
|
But then why purchase your own network if you have no plans to put your flagship product on that network? They showed Lost Galaxy but then nothinng.

Ugh.
Unless the Go-Busters adaptation makes up for what I'll only assume will be a complete disaster that is Super Megaforce, I have little to no hope for Power Rangers. |

I agree completely with Kickback, this is a double-edged sword. On the bright side, Power Rangers will continue to enjoy the popularity of being on the largest kids network, but in order for that to happen we have to deal with chopped up half-seasons that are spread out over a full year.
I wonder how they'll continue after SuperMegaforce. Go-busters could receive a two-year adaptation (like Samurai), or we could get two years of a blended Go-busters and Kyoryuger adaptation (like MegaForce). Personally, I feel like Go-busters should be brushed over like Kakuranger. They could use the footage for another "Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers"-type miniseries, but I don't feel like it'll be an easy series for Saban to transition into if he intends to keep any continuity or reuse characters from season to season. |

I just got this very deep and dark feeling that they might try to cram Go-Buster and Kyoryuger into one season...

The only way I see the idea working, even a little, is if they go an OO route. And Spy Force is trying to beat Nega-Disk to a greater power and find it first. Becoming Kyoryuger.
|
Why are they even doing the gigantic breaks, anyway? Series X is 20 episodes, and it's Super sequel is another 20 episodes. A year is only 52 weeks, why does 40 episodes need 4 multi-month long breaks?

It'd be weird to have Cheeda Nick change into Minityra if they did try to have GoBusters and Kyoryuger as the same series...
