Watched the raw and really enjoyed it. The scenes with Kota trying out henshin poses and attempting to find practical, everyday uses for the armor were fantastic. I've never seen that done in one of these shows before and it was great.
We got a lot of Baron in this one, too, and he looks like he's going to be an interesting character. He seems like he's probably a decent guy at the core, but he also comes off as really arrogant and abrasive. I suspect we'll be seeing him learn to be less of a douchebag as the series wears on, especially since it looks like he and Gaim are (for now, at least) the only two "Armored Riders" who aren't part of Yggdrasil (we see some snippets of Zangetsu this week - including a short bit of him in the suit. If there was one thing that didn't work for me, though, it was the fight scene. The suits themselves have grown on me a lot, but some of the stuff they do with the fruit still just doesn't work for me. The Pineapple Arms' weapon and finisher, in particular, just look completely ridiculous. And not in a good way. I'm hoping I can get past this, because so far it's the one of the few parts of the show that isn't really working for me (the others are the dancing and the DJ sticking his face right the hell into the camera lens). |
The RAW on youtube yet?

Dailymotion has the raw up.I loved this episode.I don't mind the finishers because over the years, there have been some crazy rider finishers. That and I think they'll slowly calm down to just kicks, slashes,or hits.
Baron's character is great.Typical tough guy but nice deep down inside and very honest. Used 3 lock seeds, but made sure to show the opponent, and hated when his teamates used the slingshot behind his back Also very hilarious to see Gaim trying different henshin poses, and being very public with the suit. |
Just caught the raw from Over-Time.
Agreed with what Switchblade said - HILARIOUS opening bits, and the Pineapple finisher is odd. The pineapple Flail appears to grow to a cartoonish size, gets thrown onto the bad guy's head, stunning him, and then Gaim follows up with a Rider Kick that punches through him. Thats odd, and the setup is odd, since Gaim is effectively tethered to the bag guy. |
-sigh- I wish Over-time would sub. My Aesir sub has crashed twice. =/

And I just watched the HD subs and had no technical issues. Still a good episode with subs. Still liking Baron - or Kaito, I suppose. His "might makes right" and code of honor definitely fit the knight-styled Rider. |
:lol my god the brilliance of transforming just to look cool. Using your powers for literally nothing other than thinking you look awesome. This is so the show I've been waiting for. Interested to see how often they use the term Armored Rider, it's always fun to see what alternatives for Kamen Rider they can come up with.
Looking forward to Baron next week. I need a J/Baron meeting to occur in something! http://imageshack.us/a/img542/7295/qeta.png |

"Have a dirty mouth? Juice it up!" Really all I have to say. Great episode, I look forward to more. |

I was fairly unconvinced by the first episode, even though it was still totally solid, but this episode? I am one hundred percent sold! Am I too late to board the hype train?
Man this is like the episode of toku I have been waiting for since I started watching it. For so many franchises built around ordinary people gaining extraordinary powers from silly costumes, they rarely have fun with the concept through their protagonist, so seeing Kouta just have fun with his Driver was just amazing for me. It's the little touches, that really add to Kouta as well, like the fear he felt during his battle or how he goofily works his way around his powers, seemingly as impressed as the audience is that he actually won - and surprised! Badass protagonists are all well and good, but it's refreshing to have someone who feels so human, it allows a deeper emotional connection. He strikes a really good balance with Haruto, who both excel in their own areas. Hell, I even really liked Baron. I know his character is as generic as they come, but he strikes a great balance with Kouta which suggests these characters were really well thought out. That Rider kick as well man, so good. |

Are the subs out on YouTube yet?

I really dug this episode. I'll just echo what a lot of people have already said: I REALLY liked the opening portion of the episode with Kouta playing around with the driver for everyday things. His doofy smile was, perhaps, the best part. The only thing I didn't like was the Pineapple Arms look. I thought the shoulder pads on the Orange Arms were floppy and in the way but this? YEESH. I feel bad for the suit actor :lol I also kind of wish the fruit theme were a bit more subtle like Orange Arms is but oh well. Overall an excellent episode! Haven't been this excited to watch a show week to week in a long time!

Man the first half was hilarious. Haven't giggled in such glee for a long time in Toku.
This is a most interesting premise for a superhero show. Mysterious and ambiguous villains, a morally ambiguous monster, all those things. Gaim has really switched the formula they had going since W. |
God, I can not get over that first half. Fun of Transforming aside, when he did the eyebrow thing I lost it. I love this guy.
Also, Pineapple arms (or Pine arms as it seems to be) was pretty cool. The boxy, plated armour look is a nice contrast to the rounded orange armour. It's different, but still cool. Also that finisher was pretty cool. |

------------ Excellent episode, Kota goofing around with the belt was simply hilarious, leanring more about Baron was great and the lock harvesting scene was cool too. I hopw Kota stops being so public about the driver though. Also that's what the "Sparking" attack do. :lolol Lol at King failing the memory game. Btw "Armored Rider" the heck? Great combination between humor and plot. Looking forward to banana! Also, your Lockseed of the week: http://i.imgur.com/keZDB0Z.png?1 |
When it tried to be fun, it was really good, I like that.
I don't know what to think about the setting: fruit stuff, "breakdance is serious business", an Invess dealer... After what I heared about the writer other works, I'm curious how about the next 4 or 5 episodes will turn. |
I thought it was interesting that the guy who picked the fruit that turned into locks was wearing a driver minus the rider face and blade. So it is actually the drivers when attached to someone that turn fruit into seeds. Neat.
I hope we see a fight in that forest, where they're just picking fruit and swapping through armours for different attacks. Also "armoured rider" seems like it's evolving into Kamen Rider. Like maybe that won't be a name he gets until later. Afterall, it makes sense. He looks more armoured than masked. (though they never saw him ride anything so what the diddly? Quote:
Also, I like how Kota realises using the belt for silly shit wasn't responsible, but he's not doing a total 180 since next episode looks like he'll still use it outside of fighting. (which I don't mind. Mucking around in the suit just gives me more time to see it. All I could think when I saw him in his house was "God I want that") |

Btw next episode we get the bikes! Yay! |

That's... actually really clever and is a better explanation than we usually get. |
That was a good episode. Loved how Kota kept trying out his powers and testing out henshin poses. Baron is cool also, yeah he's an elitist dick but he's willing to play fair.
|
Definitely a better episode then last week, was fun and interesting. Plus that tease of Zangetsu at the start... damn that suit is beautiful.

Shame it seems like he's going to be a bit of a douche character wise though. |
Man, this was better than the first. They touched on Yuyas dissapearance, Kouta just being crazy trying to find things to do with the Belt.
But, am I the only one getting a Marvelous feel from the way Kaito from Baron is dressed? I mean hes got the hairstyle somewhat, and the coat is just inverted colors of Marvelous' jacket :lol |
Well, both of them are meant to evoke, like, old-ass clothes from pirates and shit.
So, it kind of makes sense. |
So yeah, this episode was really good. I love Pineapple Arms, it's probably my favorite Arms design so far, and I just love the idea of a Pineapple flail.
Everyone's already said it, but the beginning scenes with Kouta transforming into Gaim for his jobs and stuff was just great. I'm also really liking Kaito, he seems like a cool guy, even if he's kinda arrogant. I wonder if the Raid Wild leader will become a Rider? I mean, we have 6 more Riders revealed from toy catalogs that we don't know their identities, and this guy got the whole name introduction that seemingly only main characters have had. |
It's nice to see someone try poses, even if R2 did it first. :p
|
Kouta's sister's reaction to when he henshins is just hilarious :lol
|
Not to mention the total abuse of his powers in everyday work situations :lol

Also, the guy in the limo at the end. He's sexy, no homo. |
Two episodes in and I'm loving it. Somehow it manages the same "normal" aspect that Fourze captured (a bunch of kids in every day life) and unintentionally throws them in to this huge, huge battle that they have no idea is as big as it is until much later in the series.
Loving Gaim so far - hooked me after 2 episodes, unlike Wizard which lost me after 1. |
Quote:
I found it funny his name was Takatora after I saw someone add Batta to his last name :lol |
I am loving this series so far. I really like how they're going for a more realistic take on the story of a man suddenly granted great power while not going totally pretentious with it.
Also, fruit samurai. How can you go wrong with that? P.S. Yay, Zangetsu! |
