S.H.Figuarts Kabuto Renewal Preview Gallery
 

After months of teasing, Bandai finally releases the official preview gallery of S.H.Figuarts Kabuto Renewal.

Additionally, for the first time Bandai’s given us a special behind the scenes look at the development cycle of these fan favrioute figures in a special new web page.

Kabuto Renewal comes out in March, with a price tag of 5000 yen.

Man, they're really pushing the bill with this guy. The どちらが SH Figuarts thing is kinda cute.

He looks really nice, but 5000 yen is a bit ridiculous.

It looks like the hand is a peg on the arm side and ball joint on the hand side

This + Tax refund = Yesssss!

I still don't see anything to make him have a $50 price tag.

I can't miss the preorder on this. I love Kabuto and this renewal is perfection. This behind the scenes look is pretty awesome too.

… They recreated a human skeleton, gave it muscles, and then created the Kabuto body? Dang.

They're really taking the whole "“expression through humanoid action” thing to a whole new level…the Next Level, if you will.

People are saying it comes with a book or something of that nature that is putting up the price but I am not 100% sure

I'm waiting for Dosmrider, or Peaugh, or Spada, or Vangelus, or someone :lol To buy this and Video Review it. I need video of how the new hand system works

I still don't get it. It looks just like a Ryuki Figuarts to me, all the way down to the old style ankles. Oh, and it has Figma hands.

Sorry, but most of what I see makes it look like it's worth the 5000yen price tag. Compared to the original Kabuto, the better build, the added details like on the hand, the almost dead-on accuracy to the suit. I'll definitely buy it.

I don't mean to pick on you specifically, but what from your criteria other than looks better than the original (though you really can't call that a selling point since as figures move forward they'll get better, and if they make a "renewal" ver, or course it'll look better than the original) is different than on a Ryuki Figuarts? The gloves have crazy details at each segment of the fingers and wherever else needed, their build is great, and the accuracy to the suit is also great. I don't see what makes this release so special that it deserves such an elevated price, other than it's using the new body type they just made (which is, again, pretty much just the Ryuki mold but on a unarmoured humanoid), which on it's own doesn't constitute a higher price since by the nature of the mold, they'll get a lot of reuse out of it.

I find myelf ageeing. This looks REALLY good... but so does Ryuki. And Ryuki wasn't $50.

The only thing I can point out, and I can't detail why, but this looks much less like a toy. Like it looks more like the real suit than Ryuki. Just the general finish of the paint, the lack of visible seams, the crisper moulding. Is that enough to make it $50? I don't personally think so, but it's definitely noticable. Yet it still isn't dead-on. The torso piece's sides aren't right, the belt isn't perfect, the feet are a bit off. But without a giant Dragon or shitload of hands, I'm not seeing the $50 here.
