Most Memorable MotW's
So i am watching the Megaforce xmas episode and realize the monsters from the clips are rather bland and forgetable. In fact I cant remember a single one in the past several seasons. Whiger from Jungle Fury(if only because he had a multi episode arc) but before that was season 1 and 2. EyeGuy and Soccerdillo.
So who are your memorable monsters of the week? |
Do the Psycho Rangers count? Because those were one of the highest points of the entire series for me. I remember that I was legitimately scared of them when I first saw the episodes as a kid.
Other than that, I guess Pudgy Pig always sticks in my mind, both for the fact that his was one of the first episodes I saw and that his design was one of the most ridiculous ones. |
Hydro hog is still on my mind after so many years.

I'm with Brainy. The Psycho Rangers. Including Pink from Lost Galaxy, they lasted two seasons. And were perfect as villians. They had a clear motive, they were awesomely VO'd, and the best Evil Rangers we'd ever gotten in a series.
Other than that I'd go back to the original seasons. Phirantishead (Who's name I just butchered). And his boss. Lord Zedd. He wasn't a monster of the week, I know. But he was the first original American Made villian. And I hate they dumbed him down after his first appearance because of complaining parents. When he turned around on his throne, Python that became his staff, all menacing.. Goosebumps. But if we're doing true MOTW I'd have to go back even further. Lokar. The all-powerful giant floating head in the sky with his Mutitis creature. I loved him so much. Especially when he paired with the awe-inspiring Cyclopsis. God those original couple seasons had awesome villians. |
I dunno if I'd count the psychos as MOTWs personally, since they had a dedicated arc and all.
For me I always go to these four - Pudgy pig, Eye Guy, King Sphinx and Shellshocker. Those have always been my favourites and probably always will. |
How about that blue guy from Time Force that was a petty theif that wanted to be frozen again just so he didn't have to worry about food and shelter?
|
Ah yes Pirantishead, i loved his VA.
Exactly my point, everyone you have all mentioned is pretty much early season monsters. why is it the monsters we gotten the last several years are totally forgettable |

Knasty Knight always sticks out as a cool one. i always liked his look and his action figure.

For me I'd have to say Pumpkin Rapper. Might be slightly colored by the fact that's the first full episode of MMPR I can remember watching, but the sheer zaniness of him is very memorable. Others that come to mind are Pudgy Pig(because it showed up more than once IRC?), Slippery Shark(I'm a fan of sharks), and Pirantis Head(because he was in the start of season 2).

Zordon Era (MMPR 1-3) had rememberable villians. Lokar, Cyclopsis, Vampiris, Goldar, Scorpina, EyeGuy, Phrantishead, Scarlet Sentinel. Neo-Zordon (Zeo - In Space) had some okay ones. The Psycho Rangers are the only ones I could name for you. Post-Zordon (Lost Galaxy - Wild Force) I couldn't name a villian from if my life depended on the answer. Disney (Ninja Storm - RPM) didn't have anything memorable either. Jungle Fury had a couple, I think. Neo-Saban (Samurai - Megaforce) is the same way. I adore Megaforce, and Goseiger, and the only one I could name is Vrak and Metal Alice off the top of my head. That's all. Villians have gone from becoming the driving force of plot to just there so the good guys show off what toys you can buy. |
This is about MOTWs though. Goldar, Scorpina, the psychos, Vrak and Metal Alice are main/regular villains. Completely different thing altogether. Besides, you passed off the whole of Disney and didn't mention Mesagog?
I think a lot of it stems though from the fact names were a bigger thing in MMPR though. How often do episodes actually make specific reference to monster names now? They say them briefly in a sentence and that's it. |

Remember the monster that almost baked the Turbo rangers into a giant pizza?
Yes, you do. Everyone remembers him. Whether they completely hated him or thought it was hilarious like me, even people who didn't watch Turbo knows this monster. :p And yet, I have no idea what his name was :lol |

I'd have to give points to Silo from Zeo. Always did like this design.

I specifically remember a wild force motw named Juggalo. I used to listen to ICP in high school and found it humorous. But other than him. I couldn't name another from any other season , except MMPR.
|
To be entirely honest, I don't think the MMPR monsters are really as memorable as everyone wants to declare past Pirantishead.
I may not know the names, but monsters like the wasp that wanted to be good in In Space, the petty criminal in Time Force, the snake monster from Lightspeed Rescue, or the knight from Lost Galaxy left greater impact than a lot of the monsters from MMPR. For MMPR, I remember what the monster did in the episode's plot to the rangers. For other seasons, I actually remember the monster itself. |
I have a lotta favorite MotWs form MMPR season 1 & 2.
Season 1: Snizzard, Samurai Fan Man, Grumblebee, Pumpkin Rapper, Soccadillo, Commander Crayfish and His Mutant Rangers, Bones, Chunky Chicken, Oysterizer and Goofish. Season 2: Turbanshell, Primator, Pachinko Head, Pipe brain, Magnet Brain and the Invenusable Flytrap. I had to look up the names for these because i could only remember what they looked like. |

Pudgy Pig. :D While in retrospect, the idea of a monster being a pig head wearing a Spartan helmet and having hooves for legs sounds trippy, it at least gave us the idea that these monsters had personality.
|
No one remembers Tankenstein? The rangers had to blow up the Mega Voyager just to beat him.
