What if Disney still made Power Rangers shows?
So what if Saban never got the rights back to the franchise and Disney still made Power Rangers shows after 2009. Do you think their Power Rangers version of Shinkenger - Gokaiger would be better or wost then what we have now? I think we would not be three years behind adapting Sentai shows since we would be getting a Power Rangers version of Kyoryuger if we didn't stay behind. I think their shows could be better depending who wrote them.
Disney didn't seem to care about the franchise that much seeing that we never saw much marketing for their later shows from what I can remember. With Saban, they made Power Rangers more active and more mainstream again. With Disney, we would not get any of the cool 20th anniversary stuff like the Power Morpher and the Zyuranger S.H figuarts right now. I doubt we would get the MMPR DVD releases from Shout!. |
It's really hard to imagine how Disney's versions would be like because their entire production team would be different. RPM really was meant as a final season and the production team not meant to stay longer than one season.
|
Goseiger and Gokaiger would've been two different seasons, seasons wouldn't take two damned years to complete, and Tzachor would still be out of work.

Anyway, being real, I don't think Shinkenger could really work at all in the States unless they completely removed the samurai themes (And seeing as how different Go-On to RPM was, it's not impossible), so I'd be curious how they'd handle it. |

I think Saban didn't do this because it requires a bit more planning and execution, not to mention a bit more effort in getting the right actors and filming extra scenes. |

I didn't like Jungle Fury as much as I might have let on. I didn't like RJ at all, and Theo was terrible. I consider the theme song to be as bad as Mystic Force's, I hated the nerdy chick working the pizza shop, and Jarrod's actor did not look the part. I don't hold it in high regard and I pretty much smiled and nodded when it came to opinions on JF because of peer pressure. And before anyone says anything, this was all before I watched Gekiranger. So yeah, gimme Saban's take on Gekiranger (And I'm talking Pre-Wild Force Saban :lol) |

That's fine. I just thought RJ was a bad character. He did nothing for me. Not much to add beyond that *Shrugs*

I guess their titles for the Power Rangers would be like this (Disney seemed to always have a two worded title):
Shinkenger/Power Rangers Team Samurai Goseiger/Power Rangers Armament Squad Gokaiger/Power Rangers Pirate Force Go-Busters/ Power Rangers Grid-Busters Kyoryuger/Power Rangers Jurassic Squad Tokkyuger/Power Rangers Engine Force |
Then the show would be pretty damn entertaining but nobody would talk about it due to lack of marketing and Guncannon would have some more freetme.

Ergo, Zord Builder as we know it would never happen. |

Okay, I think I know a solution. We want Saban to own it so we still get Zord Builder from BoA, but we want the people who ran Disney's shows to produce the actual shows. So we get less Samurai and more Jungle Fury.

Wait, why are people talking about toys?
Saban and Disney doesn't handle the toys. They never handled the toys. The toys were always Bandai's thing... |

If Disney had the reigns, we'd be better off than we are now. As much as they claimed to not give a rats ass about the franchise, the sheer quantity of money they seemed to throw at their seasons said otherwise. Even the shows which ran almost beat for beat along the path of the sentai they adapted from had entirely unique characters, and enough unique fight footage to make a new show of their own.
How is any of that worse than Saban still doing EXACTLY what he did in the 90s, complete with pisspoor acting, non existent story and editing that was done by someone with a pair of scissors and a lamp? |

Disney has a pretty high bar, as far as quality is concerned. When you watch a Disney production, you're going in with a brand guarantee that it's going to be pretty decent. That mandate for higher quality was immediately felt in Power Rangers. Across the board, Disney paid for better talent. Better actors, better writers, better directors, better producers. And, like they've done with Marvel Comics, Disney avoided micromanagement. That allowed the Power Rangers creative teams more room to explore ideas they actually believed in and to take greater creative risks. You can see what kind of difference that makes on screen. Saban has proven time and time again that they actively disdain their target audience. They eliminate complexity because they think kids are stupid; they think they can skimp on storytelling because kids won't notice. I don't think that's a criticism that could ever be applied to Disney. |
Ah I still remember when Disney was Satan to PR fans.:lol

But that's ALL forgivable considering what Megaforce is like. Except Norg. He cannot and should not receive forgiveness. |
I'd say the failures of Samurai/Super Samurai/Megaforce have more to do with the executive producer (Jonathon Tzachor) than anything else. He's the one who dictates the direction of the season, which with Samurai, was copy/paste in to Google Translate, and in Megaforce has been "MORE CIVILIAN FIGHTS THAN SAMURAI!" which equals 3 in Megaforce, as Samurai only had like 3 total between Samurai and Super Samurai.

The fuck is a Norg?
