Deluxe Legendary Zord Armor Ranger Gallery
40 Attachment(s)
Another day, another Super Megaforce gallery!
Today we're taking a look at the Deluxe Legendary Zord Armor Ranger set recently released with the Deluxe Gosei Great Zord Armor Ranger as part of the Power Rangers Super Megaforce toyline. This set is loosely based on the Legendary Megazord but has a more cohesive red, black, and silver color scheme. The Megazord has 8 limited points of articulation including 3 in each arm and 1 in each hip. As a part of the Zord Builder system, this Megazord has a total of 10 ports including 2 male connector pegs and 2 female ports on the torso, 1 male connector peg on each 'forearm weapon', 2 female ports in each shoulder piece, and 1 male connector peg in each hip. The set comes with a 4 inch Super Megaforce Red Ranger figure that is able to fit in and 'pilot' the Megazord. The Ranger figure has 4 points of articulation and a simplistic paint job on top of red plastic. The figure comes with no weapons. The right Cannon 'forearm' of the Zord Armor Megazord can be detached and placed in the chest of the DX Legendary Megazord. The left 'Key' forearm of the Zord Armor can be detached and used in either the DX Legendary Megazord or the DX Legendary Morpher. When used with the morpher it unlocks the Super Megaforce Red and Summon Skyship sounds. With the Zord Armor Megazord's multiple Zord builder pegs and ports, multiple cross-line combinations can be made. The two 'official' combinations shown between the item's box art and instructions are to attach the arms to the DX Legendary Megazord or to use the whole armor as an arm on the DX Megazord. All in all, the DX Legendary Zord Armor set is an odd one. It's a gimmick-filled toy simply made to pad out the toy line, but it does have a lot of playability. The integration of the key gimmick as a weapon/arm/ is clever and so far, this set is the only way to get the chest cannon to complete the DX Legendary Megazord. |
That thing looks like a cooler Megazord than the actual Megazord.

Finaly, A goki star bust replacement.

Loving they put the cannon in the chest, and loving more that head sculpt.

Toy Questions become Show Questions
While the "cannon-in-the-chest" is a cute little nod to Gokaiger and actually completes the look of the Gokai Star Burst, it does raise some interesting questions. To fully understand, one has to remember what has transpired with Megaforce and its toy line. With the toys, Gosei Ultimate and Gosei Great unite in two different ways (Gosei Great standing on the Command Ship; Command Ship as a backpack for Gosei Great). This is keeping with the Ultimate Gosei Great from Goseiger, but was never adapted for PR and appears to have only been retained to capitalize on the Zordbuilder capabilities. Does this mean that this is just a subtle nod to Gokaiger for the sake of selling toys, or does this actually mean we a going to see the Star Burst finisher (which wasn't always used). Say the finisher is retained in the show, will it be the same or will they edit the cannon balls with an energy effect. Personally speaking, I would have been fine without them using the cannon. It would have been smarter to introduce the new Megazord and tie it all in with Megaforce/Goseiger by having it launch the Zord Heads of Gosei Great (Headders from Goseiger), which did happen in Gokaiger, but that is just my thinking.
