What series gripped you the most? Is it your favorite?
So what series gripped you the most out of any other Sentai series? Is it your favorite series? For me, mine should come to no surprise, but it is DaiRanger. And yes, it is my favorite series.
I'm not exactly sure what it is about this series I love so much. The ending could have been better, but there is just something about it that makes me able to just turn on any episode at any given time and enjoy it from start to finish. No other Sentai series really does that for me. There are episodes I can just turn on, but I cannot just randomly pick one and then enjoy every second of it. And it also isn't my first watched series, as I watched Gao and Hurri before Dai. |
Geki Geki Geki!
Gekiranger pulled me in and I never wanted it to stop. The dual focus on both heroes and villains is the most prominent reason. It gave me a villain to follow that wasn't just evil because. And rather than keeping them shrouded in mystery, it split the series so you could follow them and learn. It was awesome, giving me such great characters to watch and a storyline that actually pulled me in. And it also wasn't my first Sentai. However, it was the first Sentai I watched from start to finish, having started and subsequently dropped Magiranger, Boukenger, and Shinkenger before Gekiranger. |
For me it's Goseiger.
On the first glimpse (when I was watching Gosei vs. Shinken), I immediately fell in love with the team and the beautiful visual and story concepts. Goseiger touched me on an emotional base like no other show. It's what kept me up when I was depressed and it still cheers me up to just watch any episode. Unlike Shinkenger, which got me back into Toku, Goseiger never lost its magic for me. Even though I really enjoyed (almost) all the shows I watched so far, Goseiger is still number one. |
Samurai Sentai Shinkenger.
Spot-on casting. Balanced character dynamics. Interesting visuals. Made sushi cool. |
I really can't decide between Shinkenger and Gokaiger, and yes, those two are my favourites.

But one must fall the other shall rise. Sorta like when people play The Walking Dead game. |

Well, in that case, I'd say Shinkenger gripped me the most, especially in the last 10 episodes. However, Gokaiger is my favourite. That's mostly because Gokaiger was more consistent than Shinkenger. |

Magiranger.
Gokaiger is my favourite and what got me into Super Sentai, but Magiranger is what made sure I stayed for the franchise as a whole. It was the third series I checked out (As Gokaiger was airing, I watched Shinkenger, then Magiranger) and after Shinkenger's slumpy middle and dull main villain Magiranger was just perfection. The cast were excellent, the designs were magnificent and it had an ideal balance of seriousness and silliness. Its a wonderful show. |
My pick is Dekaranger. I wish it had a second season though. It feels like it needs one.
|
Zyuranger. It's my favorite and I'm glad I found out about it. I loved Geki and Burai's story and I liked how the team was somewhat what a typical person in this day and age is like but just displaced due to their tribal roots. Like how Dan enjoyed those books be read.
Though I thoroughly enjoyed SPD, Gokaiger, Gekiranger, Dairanger, Jetman and Hurricanger. |
For me, it's probably Gokaiger. It's not my favorite, but I did really get sucked into the characters, the world, and the legacy of Super Sentai. I actually watched a lot of first episodes of other Sentai series while Gokaiger was airing, just to sample them all so I could understand what Gokaiger was taking from them. In general, the show left me on such a big Sentai high that I forced myself to watch the whole next season when normally I'd have dropped it about a third of the way through.

Even though Jetman is my favourite show over all the one that will always have a special place in my heart is Samurai Sentai Shinkenger.
It is by no means a perfect show and it has some really big flaws but it was the show that really got me into Toku. Shinkenger was the first series I saw beginning to end while it was airing and it sparked that little fire in me that grew and grew over the years. |

Gekiranger is the best Sentai I have seen, and probably the best tokusatsu show in general, Matrix already mentioned it's strenghts, great characters, a split focus between heroes and villains and a very interesting storyline with great pacing, every episode was relevant and it definitely was the show that gripped me the most.
But Go-Busters may be my favorite in the end, even with it's flaws it was love at first sight and I enjoyed every minute of it to the max, the more realistic storyline, the incredible mech fights and the incredibly entertaining cast make Go-Busters a great show too. |
I would define a gripping show as one that holds my attention from beginning to end with little to no wavering.
With that in mind, it has to be Gokaiger for me with Kakuranger being a close second (mainly because subs are unfinished). I've talked enough about Gokaiger that I don't want to repeat myself. So simply put, I always looked forward to the next episode and was pleased with what I saw after each episode. There was never a time that I was dreading the next episode, which is more than I can say for some of the other Sentais I would place among my favorites. |
At the moment, I would say Gokaiger. But to be honest Sentai hasn't had the gripping effect on me like Kamen Rider has. I never marathon watched a Sentai show like I did for Ryuki, W, or even Den-O.

Gokaiger is the most gripping to me (and my favorite). Kyoryuger comes close on both counts as well. But yeah, in general, I find Kamen Rider captures my attention more consistently. It's probably because of Sentai's unwavering commitment to their classic structure. Leaves very little room for an engaging story. |
hard to decide.. but timeranger and dekaranger. cop themed sentai makes my heart beat fast.. lol
|
Tensou Sentai Goseiger. Start to finish it had me. And it is my absolute favorite series I've watched.
