Popular 10 ten list making channel watchmojo has finally gotten around to giving the Big G some attention. Can't say I agree with all there decisions but here it is anyways. Give it a watch and say what you think.

Ohhhhhhhhhh boy, I enjoy Watchmojo so this is going to be great.

It's actually a pretty good list. Don't really agree with Terror of Mechagodzilla being on there though. Though that's more because I just don't like the movie.

I've been looking to get into Godzilla, so this was a useful guide for me.

Well Godzilla is an awkward one because when you watch the movies, you need to watch the Heisei movies in order.

True. The Showa ones you can watch in any order as they all tell their own story with one exception being the two Mechagodzilla ones. The Heisei ones though are pretty much one continuing story, and watching them out of order will leave you a bit confused.

Oh and be prepared for some really strange and childish stuff in the later Showa ones.

Mothra VS Godzilla.

Dunno what the watching order is, but it gives me a chunk to work from.

I'd say go with the obvious and watch Gojira first.

Huh. Cool list. If I ever decide to hop into Godzilla, this would be a a starting point. Just makes me ready for the new one all the more :D

10. Either 84 or Astro Monster

Most of the Millennium movies can be watched in any order except for Tokyo SOS. That one is a direct sequel to Against MechaG, and therefore, you have to watch it after that or be completely lost on EVERYTHING!!

BTW, GaoRed is one of the actors in Tokyo SOS and NinjaBlack is in Final Wars.

Isn't 84 meant to be terrible? I skipped that one because it got utterly trashed by critics. Will I not be able to follow Biollante without watching 84 then? Also which one is GMK? And I'll be fine with that one if I watch Gojira yeah?

GMK is Giant Monsters All Out Attack. The full title is something silly like "Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All Out Attack" so "GMK" is much simpler.

I haven't seen Godzilla movies for years but I remember liking Godzilla Against Mecha Godzilla and Tokyo SOS the best... Am I the only one?

It depends. If you watch the US version of 84 called Godzilla 1985, then yes, it is a terrible movie. The Japanese version is very good though as it features a Godzilla that is a terror to Japan and shows how his living effects the entire world, not just Japan.

Thankfully, you won't be totally lost if you watch Biollante before 84, as the movie starts off with a recap of the ending to 84 since it begins just hours after Godzilla's attack.

So you didn't watch it because critics trashed on it? Why not, oh I don't know, watch it yourself and make up your own mind?

Because two hours is a long time, enough time to watch six toku episodes of a show I enjoy, or watch a movie I actually like, or to go out and do something productive.

I physically have neither the time, nor the money, nor the patience to force myself through EVERYTHING so I can 'make up my own mind'. Critics are a tool, they don't work on their own, they have to be implemented and as such they can steer you in the right path.

I really can't stand GMK myself. I mean I see where people like it but I myself just can't get over the idea of King Ghidorah being a good guy.

I personally love the back to back Kiryu movies myself. I've been hearing a lot of riffing on Tokyo SOS as well. Personally I love it.

Personally for me thought my all time personal movie is Godzilla vs Biolantte. That movie has a lot of world building making it feel like a world where a giant monster popping out is very possible.

lol That is how I am with Godzilla. I do not care for the movies from the late 60s and 70s that much because I cannot picture Godzilla being a super hero.
