A new season of Power Rangers means new entries in the Mega Bloks line and today we're taking a look at the Legendary Megazord set!

The Legendary Megazord is a departure from the previously released Samurai Megazord and Gosei Great Megazord sets. At nearly half the price, this Legendary set has 100+ fewer pieces, stands at only 6" tall, only has 11POA, and lacks any unique sculpted pieces.

All of these cutbacks doesn't make the Legendary Megazord a terrible set though. Even with fewer pieces, it's still a fun build and (so far) the joints seem to hold better than in the other Megazord sets. While it has a shortage of joints compared to the larger sets, the multiple ball joints do allow for some dynamic poses.

The Legendary Megazord may lack unique sculpted pieces like a face/helmet or swords, but it does have several unique 'painted' pieces. These included the face, two shoulder pieces, the chest piece, two 'kneecaps' and the back 'keyhole'.

All in all, the Legendary Megazord Megab Bloks set isn't terrible, just different. I would have personally preferred a larger set more in line with the Samurai and Gosei Great aesthetic, but I also understand that a lower price point makes the set more marketable to parents.

Wow. What a piece if crap. Sad thing is they can do better, they have done better. The Samurai offering was great, the Megaforce was better, this.. what the heck did they do to poor Legendary's face?!

Oh man. They ruined the face! I loved the face of previous Megazord Megablox. Lame

They are in some cases to. But this.. No. Just no.

The Mega Bloks were widely spread at Target, Wal-Mart and TRU as well as several online retailers such as Amazon, Enterrtainment Earth, Toywiz and Badass Toys For Badass Boys, but as we got into Megaforce, that changed. Target never saw Megaforce in brick and mortar stores but got a handful online, which are now clearanced. TRU continued to receive the toys, but we never saw Series 2 of the figures from them.

Wal-Mart saw initial small shipments of the zords and series 1 figures, but nothing after that. Badass Toys For Badass Boys is not showing any Super Megaforce, and neither is Entertainment Earth, although they did have Series 2 Mini Figures and the racers/zords for Megaforce.

A lot of the Megaforce stuff ended up shelf warming at TRU or not getting restocked. We ended up having to go online for a lot of Megaforce. I'm sure Mega Brands has noticed this lack of interest when Megaforce rolled around. Power Rangers already has a much smaller consumer base than other big names that their Lego competition carries products for that hits much bigger pop culture/action hero icons.

Cutting the price in half of the Megazords is probably the first step in trying to adjust their game plan to match Megaforce not reaching its goals, so obviously the price point will bring lack of articulation and detail. I just hope they fix the loose joints that you get after a while.

If it's like the other MB Power Ranger sets it should end up at Marshalls/TJ Maxx in a few months.

That's what I'm saying. Bandai made Mega Bloks make the Megazords shitty for SMF.

But how does it stand on it's own merits?

Honestly? The finished product might look a little derpy but it was actually a pretty fun set to build. Yeah it lacks all of these specially sculpted pieces, but they still managed to convey the general shape of each zord with just simple pieces.

The joints (so far) seem to hold the weight of the limbs better than the larger sets. They also do allow for a nice range of movement.

The only thing I wish they would have done differently are the swords. To me, they look like halves of a pair of scissors.
