Kamen Rider Gaim 24: "The New Formidable Overlords" Discussion

Some colorful strangers sidetracked the Beat Riders last week but now the story continues! Kachidoki born! Scaller system destroyed! Overlord's revealed! Sagara and his secret! For any users who'd like to view this episode via live stream on Saturday feel free to head over to Taima TV. They play other random programs up until the live broadcast starts, generally marathons. Live Streams are at 7:00 PM Eastern Standard Time on Saturdays. |

Oh,it all makes sense about Sagura now.he represents the snake in the garden of eden, tempting Kouta with the forbidden fruit which,of course,he keeps taking But is that a good or bad thing in the end?
What does that mean about Yggdrasil? I know Ryouma is in it for the power, but Kaito is fighting them.Does that mean in the end he will be forgiven for accepting the "forbidden fruit"? |

So the Sid Lockseed is awesome.

Well, I can't say Kaito wasn't getting what was coming to him. Timely save there by Marika, though without the subtitles I'm not entirely sure if she was concerned or annoyed. It seems like Micchy didn't waste much time before being slimy this time out. Jinba Peach! It does look to have an interesting ability and a neat little Arabesque jingle. Character tension and exposition (set to dramatic music), two fundamental elements of this show. It seems like a painful wait for the subs sometimes. :lol
It looks like the Yggdrasil folks are aware of what Sagara has been up to lately. I really can't wait to see how that plays out. He really seems to be an extremely layered character and, despite apparently being affiliated with both sides, Sagara doesn't come across like as much of a scumbag as Micchy. Sid's revenge! Holy crap, that Sid Lock Seed. I was hoping we'd see it in use. Kachidoki Arms is crazy sick. I suppose it has to meet its match eventually, but until then I enjoy seeing it destroy pretty much everything Kouta throws it at. Those Overlords are pretty darn beefy, aren't they? But why didn't they finish him off? I hope it's in the subs. Next week is more MIster Dangerous! Yes! Nice movie clips in the credits. Poor Denliner is relegated to being feet! I wonder if Momotaros will have anything to say about that, although I don't recall seeing Toshihiko Seki's name anywhere. I hope he's back. Do they run live viewer commentary or something across the top of the screen? This was a weird one: http://shuangxi-in-spring.com/Images/j-trash.png |

Awesome new Jinba Arms is awesome <3 From what I got, this was a pretty good episode. I like that Kouta still sticks to his fun and playful attitude despite everything that happened. Also, the Overlord Inves seem really interesting, they might become really cool later on.
Also, YOKO'S OUTFIT. That white skirt and blazer with that black blouse. My god, that woman's fashion sense is just amazing. |

So that Sid Lock...I have a feeling that may end up being a pretty big plot point later. I mean going off what we saw it seems to have the ability to control/activate multiple lock seeds at once, or control active lock seeds. I mean it could just be a Suika lock seed thing but, what if he hits someone's driver with that?
I could see a future episode where he uses it to take control of Kachidoki or even Takatora. |

Wow, they actually made the DJ a snake.
SUBTLE. IT'S SO SUBTLE. WHAT NOT SUBTLE ENOUGH? LET ME CRACK OPEN YOUR SKULL WITH HOW SUBTLE IT IS. |

The Green Overlord was speaking words in Japanese and Kouta was communicating with it, seemed interesting if they were going to have a decent conversation before the Red Overlord started to pound on him.

when does Aseir usually released their subs?

----------------------------- So, Gaim Episode 24 appears to take place directly after 23. So the best place to place the continuity for the ToQger Special is most likely after Minato saves Kaito, unless Episode 25 has a nice gap to allow breathing room for that special (and movie), otherwise it'd be either AU or Non-Canon. |

I didn't think we'd ever see The Sid Lock Seed be used. So it has some sort of chain control effect? I'd like to see it be used more, but I don't know how much good it would do with any other Lock Seeds. Jinba Peach is also really useful, I can see that being used for Kouta to stumble upon some Yggdrasil secrets or finding out about Micchy. I thought we'd be stuck with the Overlords talking their own language for a long time, glad to see at least one bothered to learn and use Japanese sometimes. Interesting that they want a toy to play with, but no way that's all.

HD Subs are up at Aesir.

To be honest, when I saw the subs being under a post called "Power Rider Bastion", I thought it was another joke sub for a minute.
Still, the beginning half felt weird. The flowery surreal scene with Micchy and Mai was jut bizzare, and the whole testing out Jinba Peach made me think that the ToQGers were still affecting Kouta. It just felt off. Still, nice to see Kachidoki Arms kicking ass, and Kouta using the other lockseeds when necessary. Still, Jinba Peach is not having a fun track record. Sid getting owned with his own Cherry Energy Lockseed was hilarious to me Also, the insert song that plays with Kachidoki Arms, what was it called? I know Kouta's actor sings it, and I'm starting to like it. |

Interesting notes about Jinba Peach: The stats say that Peach is on par with Cherry and Lemon.
Though, Jinba Peach got wrecked relatively easily by Sid. I'm not sure how accurate the wiki is, but according to the Jinba stats on there, they are all practically the same in terms of basic power and speed. (Supposedly, these stats are pulled from the official site, but would it kill them to leave sources when they write the information on the wiki?) So that said, Jinba Cherry should be the default form for Kouta (every time he assumes Jinba form) if Cherry is just Lemon, but with super speed is what people said a few threads back when Jinba Cherry debuted. (And if Kouta isn't too busy wrecking with Kachidoki Arms) However, it seems that that those stats (the wiki one's/official website's) doesn't actually reflect real performance. When Kouta used Jinba Peach, he said Power! Speed! It doesn't feel like those. I assume Jinba Lemon gives additional strength, Jinba Cherry gives additional speed, Jinba Peach gives additional hearing, and most likely Jinba Melon gives additional defense.. So Jinba Lemon still has a purpose, after all! Anyone else viewing this the same way I am or no? ;-; |

That was another amazing episode. I will post more thoughts tomorrow or so.

I do want to say ... the previews of next week with the return of Bravo and what appears to be our first focus episode on Gridon has me absolutely giddy, especially the part where he looks to be running in to battle to save the day.
	 |

It will be nice to see those two again after such a long absence.
	 |

 Next week has Bravo?
	Instant improvement. |

It was pretty good. So what the heck was Sagara doing talking to the two Overlords? I'm assuming that maybe he was a monk or priest or shaman of some sort...and he discovered the tree in Zawame, and somehow learned how to communicate with them and gained their powers? Or he was one of the inhabitants of the other world.

Very intriguing, absolutely loved the episode it reminded me a lot of Kuuga in a couple ways. The first way was not understanding the Overlord Invess which like the Grongi speak their own language. Second was the Jinba Forms remind of Kuuga's forms of Titan/Lemon-Strength, Dragon/Cherry-Jumping/Speed, Pegasus/Peach-Super Hearing; Also Kachidoki Arms reminds me a bit of Rising Ultimate Kuuga with the Giant Horns and having 4 of them. It's cool how there are so many similarities to past series in this one. Anyways I love Kouta's usage of his different Lockseeds and kicking Sid's ass. I enjoy Kaito's and Mai's talks too, and we further see Micchy's descent to darkness. I feel bad for Takatora he is the only one without a hidden agenda at Yggdrasil. I want to more about DJ Sagara too.

But yeah, I liked this episode. The plot's still moving, the action was pretty good (although the sword mode for Kouta's new weapon is really lame), Yoko's still rocking the sexy business suits, and Micchy is still continuing his descent into total asshat-dom. It's nice to be back to the real show after last week's waste of time. Speaking of wasted time: next week is a Bravo/Gridon focus. Because that's something we apparently needed. |

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought of Kuuga. :lol

More on topic though. This episode was excellent. I eagerly await the reveal of the rest of the Sid Lock Seed's powers. And the Overlords are very interesting. I'm guessing we won't have any idea what those guys are saying until the eventual DVD's come out with translations or something. |

It was a good episode as usual.
Oh boy, Gridon still exists? That could be interesting. |

 My God that was boring.

Had hoped to see the last of Jinba, guess not. At least next week looks somewhat entertaining, but this was easily the shittiest episode of the show by far. |

Cherry and Peach only have those abilities because random why-the-hell-not. Kachidoki could've been given those abilities. Make it even more special. Lemon had no ability, too. It was clear they had no idea how to justify the jinba gimmick since it's just the same suit with a minor colour difference, so they pulled shit out of their big bubble butts. Quote:

This was like the inverted way, a half or less of an episode's worth of developement spread thin. The Overlords were barely seen, and the stuff with Mai feels like it should've been shorter. The fight with the Suika drones was just dumb. At least Kurokage troop fights are visually grabbing because of the number of people involved. Kaito sounds dumber and dumber. The only worthwhile scene was Micchy discovering the split within Yggdrasil. The S lock seed's power is also awfully specific to these circumstances. |

I still don't get the hate & distaste for this episode. It's still leagues better than the dance off episode where Knuckle was introduced. This was a solid episode with enjoyable moments.
	 |

Same here. I felt it moved the plot forward quite a bit and the only things I didn't really care for were the moments with Mai.
