Dragon/Green Ranger, November Exclusive release at 4860 yen - will obviously be more expensive for us since it's an Exclusive release.

Well that's a pointless release...

Like with the Sailor Moon stuff, I'll stick with the Figuarts Dragon Ranger.

While I'm not into statues, the sculpt on that thing is insanely good. It looks like a picture of a person in a suit, rather than a toy.

Really fantastic sculpting to make it actually look like a dude in a spandex suit instead of a toy. That being said, I'm fine with my Figuarts Green Dragonranger. It'd be cool to see Bandai do some villians in this line.

Yay for the three Tommy fans that'll actually buy this, I guess.

I dunno, this might do reasonably well sales-wise. A fair proportion of Japanese buyers seem to prefer statues over figures, maybe the Sentai crowd is among those?

I'm not sure about this, as I'm not really a statue guy.

I keep flipping back and fourth between not really carring about this, to kinda wanting this to put into a Green Ranger display.

They chose this over doing a villain like Grifforzer, Bandora, GashaSkull, or Shadam?

And why Dragon Ranger? Out of all of the rangers in the world, they choose him?

It would not surprise me that there a pr fans in Japan that like tommy or at the same time like burai as much as tommy

Because when you're trying something new it makes the most sense to use a popular character on both sides of the globe.

Aye, can't deny that the sculpting is really good here. I can see thr appeal.

It's definitely impressive, that sculpt is very good. No interest on my part though, I'm just not really into statues.

Statue looks really nice. I own a Dragonranger, but the statue looks great.
Shame it's a statue, so I'd never buy it, even if I didn't own the Dragonranger.

I don't honestly think this needed made. They already made him a Figuart, they didn't need a Zero. Unless it's just so they could release it here domestically and milk that cow again.

You people need to realise how much of demand there is for statues in Japan. Sure people go nuts for articulated figures too, but there are probably way more statues produced then there are figures.

Sure this avenue might not work for Super Sentai, but they don't know that yet and Dragon Ranger seems like the perfect candidate to test it with. The One Piece Figuarts bombed and then the ZERO line sells excellently, so go figure.

Oh I know they're huge there. I have no doubt it will sell well in Japan. Just like I understand why the Gaim movie is based around Football/Soccer. Because these things appeal to the primary native market.

Yeah, I was more directing my comment at the people who think this is a pointless release. It may seem pointless to us poseable figure buyers, but there's certainly going to be people out there going nuts for it.

And more power to them, and anyone, who wants to buy it. I just think it's pointless. I'm allowed.

well this is in an iconic pose, I think would look great on a shelf. The Figuarts is great for action pose, but this would look great on my work area on the job (plus co workers won't change him into....compromising poses...

Because Tommy is a huge seller in the US. It won't surprise me if Bluefin was behind this. Bluefin mention in a interview a while back that they plan to do more MMPR stuff in other Tamasahii figure brands. SRC Dragon Caesar/Dragon Zord is likely next. I'm sick of MMPR nostalgia and we're getting more of it soon in a few years from now because of the new upcoming movie from Lionsgate.

I wouldn't mine an SRC of Dragonceasar, but afterwards they need to start focusing on DaiRanger!!

Anyway, like I said, I think this is entirely pointless. Yes, I love my One Piece Zeroes, but Sentai just does not work as statues to me.

I think the US market is the reason why we got the rest of the Zyurangers. If it's was not for the US, I think only Tyranno Ranger and Dragon Ranger would got made. Just like how the other Jetman and Dairanger teams have yet got made into figuarts.

With Power Rangers celebrating it's 20th Anniversary and playing up the "Mighty Morphin" angle worse than when they did the 2.0 version, it made sense for Bandai Japan and Tamashii Nations to test the water with releases more geared towards the United States (and the rest of the world), and worst case scenario, Zyuranger wasn't unpopular by any means in Japan.

You're not really looking at all the facts there. As the point has been made many times, Zyuranger was huge in Japan when it debuted. Still tons of fans out there who love that show because of the revolutionary way in which costume/set design and production values changed for the franchise as a result of Zyuranger. It revitalized sentai. Yes the US market undeniably drives sales as well. But a show like Zyuranger was pretty safely going to have it's whole team done in Japan, it was just too popular not too.

Jetman & Dairanger also have their fond fans on both sides of the ocean but not nearly to the same capacity as Zyuranger. And certainly not as much as MMPR. But to say the other Zyurangers wouldn't have been made without western demand? I'm not entirely sure I see that.

So far the other teams like Boukenger, Dekaranger, Jetman and Dairanger still yet to get the other team members after a year later. Bluefin did said the MMPR figuarts reach around DBZ levels in terms of sales. I think it's possible that the US market help the other Zyurangers got made.

I think you're being too generous. If Zyuranger revitalized it, it's kind of silly that only 3 years later it had to be saved from cancellation with Carranger.

Zyuranger's continued popularity does have a lot to give towards Mighty Morphin Power Rangers - while Zyuranger did fine by itself in Japan, the Power Rangers adaption became a hit for the rest of the entire world. That fact alone leads me to personally believe that the Power Rangers 20th Anniversary played a huge role in the entire Zyuranger team being created (as opposed to just Red and Green, like what happened with Dairanger in Akibaranger with just Red and White).

Plus - there's a ton of Super Sentai after Zyuranger that have been more successful and more popular in Japan. And yet, here we sit with every other single team unfinished except Zyuranger/Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

I don't think that's purely a matter of chance.

I know that Zyuranger had bigger toy sales then Jetman and Fiveman, but I doubt there's big demand for Zyuranger in Japan. From what I've been told, kids love Zyuranger back in 1992 while most of the older fans didn't care for it. It was jut another Sentai show and people move on to the next show a year later. In the US, the 20th anniversary of MMPR is still hot in the air.

Completed Shinkenger and Gokaigers say what? I mean sure we don't have every Super Shinkenger or Gokai Silver Gold Mode, but the core teams are complete.
