Drive Story Details Confirmed Via Press Conference.
 

Here's what we know:

*The Roimyuudo (that appears to be the official Romanization) are android-esque creatures that want to become human. Most of them are locked behind a digital network & don't have physical form, but they can access the real world through humans.

*Two Roimyuudo DO have physical bodies, their leader (named Heart) and his nervous assistant, Brain. They also call on a human known as "Chase," a professional hitman who seems to have some history with the Tokyo PD.

*The series' themesong is "SURPRISE-DRIVE" and will be performed by Mitsuru Matsuoka (some of you may know him as Kamen Rider Eternal).

*Drive operates out of a Special Unit spun off from the regular Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. His support staff includes technical expect Kiriko, physicist Rinna, researcher Kenta, hostile lieutenant Genpachirou and Chief of Police Tsurutarou.

So that means that these Roimyuudo are almost like a combination of the the Imagin and dopants. The ability to possess humans like Imagin and the ability to transform into Kaijin like dopants. (Except instead of Gaia memories, it's viral cores.) Does that sounds about right?

So they turned Go-Buster into a Kamen Rider?

I'm also getting a bit of a Gobusters vibe mixed with G3 from Agito. I'm interested but still a little hesitant to say I'm all in as of right now.

Bring. It. I'm totally on for this. It's not even the suit, or the car, but the whole premise is just squee. Bring on Kamen Knight Rider!

so this is a kamen rider series where the rider is actually a driver? like he doesn't ride a bike?

So the monsters are a combination of Imagin, Dopants and Vaglass and Drive and his unit are similar to Accel and the F.P.D.'s special unit's role from W. I like the combination.

I am startin to like this more and more.

With the whole "separate branch of the police" thing, I get serious G3 vibes.

So the villains... just want to be human?

Not seeing the conflict yet.

Hopefully they handle that well...

The ultimate goal upon evolving is to REPLACE humanity. I'd find that threatening.

Okay, that's a little better heh.

So that means that they're like Imagin, dopants, and the worms. Possessing people like Imagin, turning into kaijin with the viral cores like dopants, and replacing humans like worms did in Kabuto. Not a bad set of combinations.

So.. the MPD Special Unit is basically SAUL from Agito? That's kinda neat. I've generally gotten more of an Acel feel from him - he's red, vehicle themed, and a police officer.

This sounds very exciting. I am partially more intrigued with the villains in the beginning right now. Which is different for me.

Looks great, I'm really stoked for Drive now. It looks to have a great production crew, great cast, awesome car, and I'm actually warming up to the suit.

I like the idea of the show but I already wish there were more riders.

Is it silly of me that I want to drive the car?

It would be silly if you didn't.

Looks intriguing so far, but I haven't quite hit that "hurry up and finish" phase with Gaim yet.

Do we know if any of the writers for GaoGaiGar are working on this? Cause Brain & Heart just screams "Primevals" to me...

I want more Riders too but I mean Gaim's Press conference had 5 Riders and ended up having like what 19 or so with Movie Exclusives and more.

So we have no idea how many Drive will have. Though I'll be happy with at least 3.

I am sure there will be mass production versions down the road, but who knows if those will be infected by whatever virus.

To me 1 Rider vs 1 rival is good enough.

It seems I missed one member of the Special Unit:

This is Professor Streinbert, inventor of the Drive technology. His voice is used in the Drive Driver to advise Shinnosuke during combat (a role similar to Shigeru Chiba in Kyoryuger).

I'm not the only one who sees him and thinks "Japanese Tony Stark", right?

The concept almost sounds more like a Metal Hero origin, and if it turns out that the Drive suit came out of the drafts for Toei's Metal Hero revival attempts, I wouldn't be surprised. I'm definitely intrigued.

Um.. Hmn. Drive's assistant/partner. That uniform. .. Yes.

And if that "Drive!" Is the voice of his belt consider me hooked.

Sounds like a fairly solid story premise. We'll see how things will turn out.

I am happy with these details and can't wait to see Drive, though I'm DEFINITELY gonna miss Gaim.

I'm kind of hoping the secondary Rider will be more of the traditional kind but since Drive is sanctioned by the police, the secondary will be the mysterious hero...Kind of like Agito but all from G3's perspective.

I kind of wonder if our secondary Rider might be a private detective. Invert the whole W dynamic.

One thing I will say is that after learning his a Cop I wish that there'd been more of a Cop motif with Drive. But then if they went to far that way it'd just be Kamen Rider G3 the Sequel.

But I hope, at some point, he gets a full Squad Car upgrade.
