Help me out
So, I got into Toku with Ultraman and Super Sentai, and that's mostly where i've been focusing. I've never watched Kamen Rider before, and i'd like to get into it. I'm really interested in watching at least a few episodes of the original series, but beyond that, i'm not sure what to watch. My favorite Sentai are Jetman and Zyuranger, and i'm not too into newer stuff that has tons of CGI. The reason I like Toku stuff is because I like the man-in-suit aspect. I thought about watching Gaim, since I REALLY like the design of the suit, but the few clips I saw had way too much CGI. Maybe after I get into it a bit more I'll go back. But anyways...based on this, what would you suggest?
|
I'd probably go with Kamen Rider Black/Black RX.
|
I will always recommend Kamen Rider Black.
|
I would recommend either black or kuuga
|
Kuuga has very little, if any, CGI in it. Plus it's an interesting take on a realistic hero show.

CGI wasn't a huge thing in Rider until Ryuki. I'd recommend Black, Kuuga, or Agito unless you're willing to go back to the 70s stuff.
|
I'd say Agito. It has a great story which while slow at first picks up fairly quickly to get you hooked to where you just want to keep marathoning the episodes. The story is filled with great characters, an interesting concept behind the villain's goal, a great mystery, nice action scenes, and a cool soundtrack. CGI is only really for when Machine Tornador goes into it's hover board mode.
In short, Agito is a fantastic series to watch and is, in my honest opinion, the single best Kamen Rider show to ever be created and one of the best tokusatsu products ever created. |
I'll agree with Kuuga or Agito. Those are two of my favorite shows because of the great story and characters in them.
|
For the record, i'm very willing to go back and watch 70s stuff. It's a bit slower, but I love the aesthetics.
Let's see...4 votes each for Black, Kuuga, and Agito. I'll probably check Black first out of those three, then Kuuga or Agito based on whichever suit I like better haha. Thanks guys. Keep the recommendations coming, but I sort of feel like those three shows will be the most recommended ones |
Kuuga. But there's a fair amount of CG during the fist fight transformations, where he's punching, while the suit's going on around him.
|
I'm not completely opposed to CGI, I just don't like when there's a ton of it. For example, when the mech battles in Sentai are mostly CGI, it takes me out of it.

For anything Heisei, I would say: Kuuga, Agito, Faiz, Blade, or Kabuto.
|
Start with Black.
Next watch Kuuga. After that in no particular order watch: Ryuki Kabuto Den-O W Fourze Gaim Then freely watch all the other shows |
since were only 4 episodes away from the show ending gaim is a very good option to start with
|
I would recommend Den-O because it is the friendliest of all series. After that, you'll be ready to watch anything else.
I don't recommend Hibiki, however. It was so tough for me to finish. |

Thanks again for the help guys |
I love kamen rider Faiz and Blade they don't use too much cgi. The ones that do use a little bit more which I enjoyed very much are Kabuto,Kiva,W,Wizard, and Gaim. This is irrelevant but I'm in love with drive right now and I hope it becomes an amazing series.
